I don't see it as them being worked up. You don't have to be worked up to defend publicly the comments made against TCU's position.

Some people still hate/criticize Dan Fouts for shit he said 8 years ago during the BCS title game. Some fans of a team get over things, some don't. If Gee never makes that statement this doesn't happen and if Wisky beats TCU this doesn't happen. I mean, I can't really blame whoever did this for doing it. The stage was set for them.

OSU fans just won another BCS Bowl game so I don't figure this will bother them very much.

Dan Fouts got paid good money to know something about football and demonstrate that on live TV before millions of viewers, and made himself look really stupid, doing everything but breaking out Miami pompoms during that NC game.

Gordon Gee is a tiny, unathletic, nerdy-looking college president. Why is TCU so worked up over what his opinion is?

Lol Buckeye fans can sure dish it out, but a little good natured poking fun at someone in the OSU family and panties are bunched all over

You kinda missed the point. A commentator made statements 8 years ago and they're still brought up and criticized. I don't think TCU will be harping on this in 2018. Furthermore, if they're "worked up" then what's that make the people who are mad at them/criticizing them for it? Worked up, right? People can feel how they want....whether at OSU or TCU. Some OSU fans think it's unnecessary and some TCU folks probably think it's warranted.

It's all good.

Public response isn't necessarily an indication of being worked up.

Judging by the comments on the board in the link posted I think it's fair to say "worked up" is an accurate description.

Ohio State fans "can dish it, but can't take it" as judged by the responses on this board, so it's a fair assessment.

Lol...I don't care one way or the other personally.

The billboards are kind of funny, but TCU didn't prove Gee wrong in any way. The argument against TCU (more like Boise) has always been that they only have to win one or two big games a year and BCS/AQ schools have to win several more (tougher) games in back to back weeks with more of those on the road. So, how does TCU's one big game win this year on a neutral field after a month to prepare disprove any of Gee's sentiment?

Nice post and accurate.

That's always been the knock on the non-AQ schools. They play 1 or 2 worthy games a year. As opposed to being in a major conference that recruits has some of the same caliber of athletes as others. Imagine if OSU played in the MAC and had 1 OOC game against a big school and then possibly a BCS bowl game at the end of the year. Would that seem right? I respect TCU for joining the Big East... although that conference itself is terrible. But at least they are being realistic about the situation as opposed to Boise State.

I'm just concerned that some OSU clown alumni will try and one up them with some BS nonsense...just let TCU go down the William Hung highway to obscurity alone.

TCU joining a BCS conference means Gee was right anyway.

Those who commented on that board would indeed give others belief that they are worked up...then again my comments weren't related to those on the board linked.

Exactly. TCU basically said Gordon Gee was right when they made this move.

I saw the one on the corner of Hilliard-Rome and Roberts this afernoon.

Good for TCU, its the biggest win that they have ever/will ever have. Gee probably could have kept his mouth shut but these things happen in sports all the time. Rex Ryan took a little shot at Tom Brady the other day, should Brady and the Pats go buy billboards in NY? I dont have a problem with the signs, seems pretty stupid though

I liked Bret Bielema response after the game.

"I think it's going to be a great addition for the Big East to have TCU eventually, and pour through that schedule and don't have to answer that question any more, because the truth will come out when they do that and enter into a BCS conference and play someone of the caliber of those conferences week in and week out."

TCU will be in 5 straight BCS bowl games. Its just a pretty logical assumption to make at this point given how pathetic the Big East is in football.

What really is going to frustrate TCU fans is they are still going to listen to people say they don't deserve BCS games. I certainly didn't feel that UConn deserved a BCS game.

Maybe, or their coach will move on, and they return the the bottom of the barrel where historically they spend most of the time.

They could dominate the conference, title wise, and still not go undefeated every year. WVU has more or less dominated the conference in the last eight years (or at the very least, if you look at 2003-2007). With five claims to the conference title, they still only went undefeated in the conference one time and nobody ever really made a big deal about them going to BCS bowls with a couple losses. If a team from any conference went to a BCS bowl with five losses, people would say they don't belong. It just happens that the team to do that was from the Big East.

If TCU ends up running the table in the Big East, they're going to be treated the exact same way in the pecking order as any other BCS team. Meaning, if a bunch of teams are undefeated...or there are no undefeated teams and a bunch of 1-loss teams, the SEC will go first, then Oklahoma/Texas/Ohio State/USC, then whatever other closest-to-big-name team from the Big XII/Big Ten/Pac 10 happens to be there, then whichever team from the Big East/ACC that happens to be the bigger name. If TCU is the only undefeated team in the country, they'll be in the title game, which in the past would've been debatable. But, most people aren't going to be harsh about their being in BCS bowls with one or two losses.

I say that over and over. The perception people have of them, and this expectation of dominance totally ignores that they rarely even went .500 in the 35 years before they downgraded their competition.

Personally, I expect them them to fit right in the Big East, having some "good" seasons, winning or threatening to win some conference titles, occasionally getting some "surprise team" press, and ultimately being moderately successful. Just like South Florida, Rutgers, Louisville, etc.

Fact: TCU won the Rose Bowl (Congrats)
Fact: Gee made a silly comment that is based in complete and total truth

Big Giant FACT: When offered to play OSU, TCU declined.

Wouldn't be shocked if a group of Frat guys do something to this Groveport guy's house....
