With this new WCO they only need to keep moving the chains with short, accurate passes. I think they have the receivers for that. Don't need a "stretch the field" type as long as you have guys that are good at YAC. Keep the defense off the field and they could be competitive. The schedule is easier, on paper. There's always a team that "surprises" each year. Why NOT the Browns this year?

See, I disagree with this a little, BR. Yes, in a perfect world we would have good YAC guys...but you still need "that guy" who keep the safeties honest so they can't creep up and cover our short passes better.
If we want to be a dynamite offense, we are going to need a fast, dynamite player to stretch the field. If we want to just settle for a pretty good offense, we don't need that WR.

Defenses don't respect that when they know the QB can't consistently throw the ball deep. McCoy hasn't shown me he can do this.

He is not a great deep ball passer by any means...but if our speed guy blows by the safety, Colt has the ability to get it to him. That's all I'm saying.

Sorry Peter King has said some really dumb things, and I think he's dumb again here too. The Browns play in a division with Baltimore and Pittsburgh and you're delusional if you think we're better than them right now and can do better than 1-3 against them this year.
That being said, the Browns are still headed in an excellent direction and I expect them to be competitive in every game, but IMO 8-8 is our team's best case scenario.

I mean the Bengals were what 4-0 against the Steelers and Ravens 2 years ago? They're talent certainly doesn't look much better than the Browns. It may be cliche but any given sunday any team can beat any other in the NFL. With the right execution and some luck the Browns could certainly make a run. Likely? No.....But not impossible either.
The problem is that the Browns haven't had a coach since their return that has put an emphasis on division games. These aren't "just another game" these are the games you NEED to win in order to get into the playoffs. Hopefully Shurmur establishes a culture of placing more importance on the Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Cincy games each year or he won't last long.

Colt McCoy was 21st in completion percentage on passes 20+ yards. 10 completions/32 attempts, 31.25%
(interestingly, Vince Young is #1 with 45.71%)
Colt had the 10th highest deep throw percentage of attempts. 222 total attempts, 32 deep attempts, 14.41%
(interestingly, Sam Bradford had by far the lowest percentage with 6.78%)
Colt had the worst interception ratio on deep throws. 32 attempts, 7 interceptions - 21.88%
(second place is Cutler with 12.5%)
In other words, McCoy attempted quite a few deep balls without a lot of success.

A lot of people thought King was an idiot for predicting the Steelers in the Super Bowl this year too....just sayin'

I am not by any means saying Colt is even decent at the long ball. But he is an NFL QB, and if someone is WIDE OPEN deep, he'll be able to get it to him.
Another thing to keep in mind, if you watched last year's games (which, obviously, you did), you rarely ever saw a wide open WR. Our receivers were lousy, and Colt suffered because of that. If they get a Mike Wallace type player, and he is open deep, I have full confidence in Colt's ability to hit him deep. Now, if there is a defender on him, I lose all that confidence. But it's just my opinion that you need a deep ball threat no matter what offense you play in.

My only issue is that when he DID throw the deep ball (receivers may not have been WIDE open) the receivers had to either wait for, come back to, of fight for the ball. Hopefully I'm way off base and this lingering shoulder issue is gone and deep throws won't be an issue.

Yeah, it was brutal at times (more so than not). But it's a lot easier to deliver a catchable ball when the guy is open, that's what I'm saying. So even if he has to come back to the ball, if he's wide open it won't be a big deal.

Haden is the man. It's nice to see athletes do things like that. Those types of actions are much more meaningful than donating a certain amount of money imo.

Meh, the guys been posting stuff about being pumped about the Browns since the second (literally) he was drafted. He's genuinely excited about playing in Cleveland. I saw his tweets about Lebron and the Heat and thought nothing of it. Would have never guessed it would have a Yahoo article about it, I didn't think it was that big of a deal.

If he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, I would have a problem with this. I don't care if Little despises the city of Cleveland, as long as he produces on the field, and stays out of trouble off the field.
