Even if he means it, if he works his ass off here and gives it 100% on every play then I'm OK with it.

I expect the Browns to win the opener, and think it will happen. I think the offense and defense will play well.

You may be OK with it. But if this gets out, most Browns fans won't be. It's pretty much a slap in the face to Cleveland.

I think the Browns are the better team too but I never take a season opener for granted. Too many people think the Bengals game is a "gimme." All they (Cincy) have to do is establish a running game, play good defense and hope Dalton doesn't screw up and they could win (the Flacco/Sanchez/Roethlisberger "game manager for rookies" formula). Personally, I'd LOVE to see the Browns blow them out of the water to set the tone for the season.

I don't think the Bengales defense will stop the Browns O enough though...and I dont think they are going to be able to run the ball that great...if Taylor and Rubin are getting a huge push against the OL then our D should be fine...we'll see what happens though. Crazy things do happen sometimes.

Play out the duration of your contract, produce 100%, and if you move on after the contract is over, so be it--good luck.

Just don't hold a tv broadcast on a decision of where you'll be going :D

Yeah, that "game manager for rookies" formula only works when you have a solid team around you. The Bengals aren't nearly as good as any of those other teams.

I don't exactly think the Browns are a juggernaut by any stretch and no game should really be taken for granted by the fans.

Browns signed G/T Oniel Cousins (Ravens) off waivers. He is fairly young (27) which is the best thing I can say about him. If the Rats didn't want him with their craptastic line he can't be too good. I think the end is VERY near, career-wise, for Eric Steinbach.

I wonder how losing Steiny will effect Thomas. He's played every game in the pros with Stein next to him and I always hear how consistency is key to a good oline.

7 minutes ago - by Marty Gitlin - TE Watson should make quick return from hip issue
Coach Pat Shurmur said TE Benjamin Watson (hip) will be "out here quickly." Watson, who led the team in catches and receiving yards in 2010, has looked solid throughout camp. Browns RapidReports
8 minutes ago - by Marty Gitlin - Cousins pickup unrelated to Steinbach situation
Coach Pat Shurmur said the pickup of OL Oniel Cousins had been planned after he was released by the Ravens and was unrelated to the potential loss for the season of LG Eric Steinbach. Cousins played RT in his first practice with the Browns. Browns RapidReports
9 minutes ago - by Marty Gitlin - Shurmur awaits results of LG Steinbach's back surgery

Aug. 30, 2011 12:37 p.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Battle for last RB spot between Porter, Smith continues

Aug. 30, 2011 12:18 p.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Cousins lines up as backup RT, likely won't start at LG
Oniel Cousins is lining up at RT with the backups. Though Cousins can play either guard or tackle, that indicates he won't be Eric Steinbach's replacement at LG. Rookie Jason Pinkston will almost certainly keep that opportunity. Browns RapidReports

I think that's a "no brainer." Undersized/technician O-Lineman with disc problems in his back? Yeah, he's likely done.

I'm not too concerned about this. They were going in that direction anyway. His play had slipped over the past few years.

I hear you, two rookies on the line is a bit worrisome. Hopefully Pinkston steps up and performs.

Just sitting back and thinking for a moment, if Pinkston can step up and be reliable that puts a good YOUNG left side together that could be an anchor for many years. This especially holds with the extension of Thomas.

It is really hard to be "glass half full guy", especially in Cleveland.

If the front office doesn't make a move beyond Cousins to try and shore up the depth on the OL -- and McCoy ends up getting hurt because of poor line play -- Heckert should be put in stocks on public square and give people a chance to throw rotten tomatoes at him.

I don't give a rat's furry behind what your overall philosophy is for building a team, in a situation like this you find the best OL you can to protect your (potential) franchise QB. If McCoy is unable to play all the games this year and grow his game...then it doesn't matter what your philosophy is because you will basically be set back a year in his development.
