He was hit in the chest/shoulder. Nowhere near a roughing call.robj55;874009 wrote:Vick threw a pick and it was waived off because of a penalty of roughing the passer, he was hit as he was releasing the ball.

That was one of the best clean hits I have seen...or atleast I thought was clean. He drilled Vick, there have been a lot worse hits on QBs that are sometimes not called like the one Jackson had. But he hit him in the shoulder pad area so thats where I dont understand why it was roughing the passer...I dont know how else you're supposed to hit a QB in the NFL now?

Some of my post game thoughts: Hardesty looked like Pashos out there running the ball. Hopefully he improves....
Phil Taylor has finally been turned loose and wow where did he learn those pass rush moves. He has been a beast. As a matter of fact, the DL including Paxson really pwned the Eagles offensive line. (Paxson I really like, this kid can play) The only thing Phily has going for them on offense is the fact Ventrone can't cover a RB out of the backfield and could be why Dockery came in early.
On offense, first off Moore is not 100%. He dropped what would have been a long TD pass and run and he was a full second late on the fieldgoal block attempt. Shouldn't have even played.
Colt's pass to Moore along with that Pass to Robo were beautiful throws, the call which again was BS especially when the Nnamdi was grabbing and holding him all the way down the field. Robo knocks his arm off and gets called for the Hold. About like the helmet to helmet hit by DQ that took away the pick. Or the offsides when the D jumped that kept backing us up every time we moved the ball. Then they failed to call blatant pass interference on the pass to Watson.
Our OL pretty much manhandled their DL. If we had really wanted to pound it, hillis would have been unstoppable. Guess we didnt want to give him to much with the back and hammy.
Score says one thing but my eyes saw another. Only thing I have been upset with is some of the mental mistakes like Robo on the Colt rollout, he just stopped instead of going deep or coming back to the QB. BTW if Mo and Mitchell get healthy, I dont think Norwood makes the roster.
One more thing i want to say about Taylor, I loved that Warren Sapp big shoulder slap he was using. Actually knocked the guard down with it. DL coach is certainly doing his job.

Refs were terrible last night, I hope they're fined for that roughing the passer call. That along with the phantom Off PI call on Robo. SMH.robj55;874009 wrote:Vick threw a pick and it was waived off because of a penalty of roughing the passer, he was hit as he was releasing the ball.

I was thinking the same thing when that play happend. I thought there would be 0 chance he calls that in the playoffs or superbowl. 15 yards penalties are game changers, I hate how they so easily handed out sometimes. Especially in this case where the hit caused an interception.bases_loaded;874116 wrote:Lol Jackson told the media the ref told him they probably wouldn't have called it in the regular season..huh?

I have to agree with COA. The score of the game was not indicative of the game I watched. Some really bad calls made a huge difference in the outcome. I was impressed with the defensive play, especially being without a bunch of starters. The DL dominated Philly's OL. They are starting to settle into the 4-3 nicely. Colt's numbers didn't end up the way he wanted. But a couple drops and the PI call made them much worse than they should have been. The pick was just a natter of a good CB making a good play on a bad read by Colt. He will learn from it hopefully. Overall, I will say this team is improving and should be much better than last year.

Nobody even mentioned the foolish turnovers on special teams -- the blocked FG and the dropped punts.
I hope they get those kinks ironed out fast. Cleveland had one of the best special teams units overall for a number of years. Now they have a different coach; let's hope we don't see things regress.
I'm guessing Cribbs may have to go back to returning punts if for no other reason than he has sure hands 99 percent of the time.

So you thought he looked good last night? I'm not trashing him because I thought he was a dumb pick, just commenting on how he looked last night....which was terrible.like_that;874183 wrote:Oh, so you don't like Hardesty? This comes as a surprise to everyone /sarcasm.

He didn't have enough carries to even make a legitimate evaluation. He can rush for 200 yards in a game and you will still QQ.Commander of Awesome;874194 wrote:So you thought he looked good last night? It was his first game back...in preseason..and it was raining. Seriously, cut the guy some slack. I'm just happy he didn't get injured. Loved the pass rush we got from our d-linemen, but thought our linebackers looked like shit. Missed tackles left and right.Commander of Awesome;874194 wrote:So you thought he looked good last night? On another note, I just want to congratulate all Browns fans on this board for making this thread the #1 thread on OC.
Should we keep this thread going for the regular season? A mod or Mr. Miyagi can update the name of this thread for each week's game.

No, when a player doesn't well they dont play well. Its simple. I called out Thomas against the Falcons last year were Abraham had his way with him and he's a 4 time pro bowler.DeyDurkie5;874208 wrote:Seriously, cut the guy some slack.

Well no shit you can call out thomas for not playing well, he is 4 years into the league without any major injuries. He is the best left tackle in the game and when he plays like shit you, me and every other browns fan are going to say what the fuck joe. But to criticize hardesty, who is coming back from an ACL surgery, playing in his first live action in the rain, and escaped without any serious injury, is just retarded. Seriously, how dumb are you?Commander of Awesome;874231 wrote:No, when a player doesn't well they dont play well. Its simple. Whats dumb about calling it as I see it? Wouldnt a 4 time pro bowler also deserve this slack you're so readily eager to hand out?DeyDurkie5;874244 wrote:Well no shit you can call out thomas for not playing well, he is 4 years into the league without any major injuries. Nothing is dumb about it (bad choice of words), but at the same time A. it's preseason, B. first game back from ACL surgery, C. in the rain (which is my guess as to why he was pulled). Are you fair for evaluating his performance last night? Absolutely. But does last nights performance give any idea as to how he'll perform this year? I doubt it.
