I agree BR. You've got months of moves being compressed into a few days....super fast paced and pretty cool.

Off topic....but, is it just me or should they hold free agency, do rookie signings, etc like this EVERY year? This seems a lot more fun/exciting than normal years. Maybe it's just due to people jonesing over football but this seems REALLY fast paced.

Mike and Mike were advocating the same thing this morning. I agree, it would be sweet.

I am not excited about Jackson, but it gives us more depth especially when Hardesey's knee blows out again. I wouldn't be against getting Nate Clemens. (Better hometown CB than Whitner?? Thoughts) He could be a good 2nd corner for a season or two or Nickle back. Also excited to see we appear to be looking at high impact DE's between Williams and the Osi rumors.

What high impact LB's are out there to get?

I believe that Stephen Tulloch, Kirk Morrison & Stewart Bradley are still available at MLB. All of these guys are better than anything on our roster. Tulloch has been my target all along.

As far as the Osi rumors...yes, the Browns have interest but won't reach out until this Edwards fiasco is done. Approaching the Giants while still negotiating with Edwards could kill the deal.

As far as Donte Whitner goes, I just heard that the chances of him being a Brown are "slim." This is per his agent.

I made an error yesterday when discussing Danny Amendola. Thought he was a free agent but the tender he signed would require the Browns to trade for him if they wanted him.

Falcons released 2008 1st rounder DE Jamaal Anderson. Not sure if that has any impact on Edwards dealings...

I would def take a look at Anderson. He was a beast in college, but a cub in the pros. Not sure about his situation in Atlanta but Matt Williamson says that he was a bad fit in their defensive scheme. I bet he'd come realitively cheap as well.

Ok...so ATL is still trying to shed money ($7 mill with the 2 cuts) but just resigned Clabo for big money....Philly signed Babin and has little cap room left....Tenn is in the same boat (little cap money) and Seattle seems like they have spent a shitload of money....besides these teams, has anyone heard of any other team interested in Edwards? Cleveland may win by default, but I'm still thinking ATL is gonna pull this out.

What this says to me is that Heckert made him a fat/best offer, said "take it or leave it", it's STILL the best offer and he (Edwards) doesn't really want to play here and is scrambling trying to get someone else to come up with money. With how much of a big mouth Edwards is, I can't see him keeping this a secret had he already agreed to sign with the Browns. The Young/Jackson signings weren't kept a secret.

So with Wright leaving, do we get anything in return? I thought I read somewhere that we had tendered him for a 2nd rounder? Or was he an UFA per the new 4 year rule?

Jackson Doesn’t Doubt Himself

By Fred Greetham

Posted Jul 29, 2011

Veteran linebacker D'Qwell Jackson is healthy and ready to redeem himself following two injury plagued seasons.

BEREA—Browns linebacker D’Qwell Jackson is grateful to have the opportunity to play football again.

“When (the Browns) presented the opportunity for me to come back, I jumped at it,” Jackson said after reporting to Berea on Thursday.

After leading the NFL in tackles in 2008 with 191, Jackson missed the past two seasons after tearing each of his pectoral muscles in successive seasons. He has not played in a game since suffering the injury on Oct. 18, 2009.

“When you injure yourself one time, you have your doubts,” Jackson said. “When it happens again, you think, ‘What else can happen?’ “.
Jackson (6-0, 240) said he isn’t worried about getting injured again.

“I’ve done enough things this off-season,” he said. “I won’t second guess myself when I get out there. There will be some rust to knock off, but I’ve been doing this my whole life.”

After being the Browns’ second-round draft choice in 2006 out of Maryland, Jackson started 42 of 43 games until getting hurt after six games in 2009.

He injured the opposite pectoral muscle in training camp last summer and spent the year on injured reserve. Jackson had 420 tackles in his first three seasons. He had 57 tackles in the six games he played in 2009 before he was injured.

Apparently, ESPN is now reporting there is a "sleeper team" in the Asomugha sweepstakes....it's believed to be Cleveland.

Oh, I don't think it happens personally. I think it will be the Jets or 49ers. Tampa Bay is stupid as fuck. They have a shit ton of money to spend. Why not throw a ridiculous offer at this guy?

Does Houston have enough cap room to get him?

Their defense was so bad, that they really shouldn't just stop at Johnathon Joseph lol
