You don't get the "jump" first... You get a drug called Adenosine. It briefly stops the heart (and God willing) then restarts it in the correct rhythm. People clam a "very funny feeling" for the brief moment their heart stops... Then if THAT doesn't work, you get the Cardioversion which is a nice little jolt of electricity to your chest. Even with pain meds it is excruciating...

So hope you never get in that situation
