Ever wonder why all of these black folks are situated in the 'Ghetto' (Actually a term for a place that is homogeneous of composition. The Hamptons in NY are a ghetto)

I never said they don't exist. I just asked for factual examples that they do exist. You can mess with any numbers, any factual evidence, etc. too, to make it make the point clearer.

Per Wikipedia:

Redlining is the practice of denying, or increasing the cost of services such as banking, insurance, access to jobs, access to health care, or even supermarkets to residents in certain, often racially determined, areas. The term "redlining" was coined in the late 1960s by John McKnight, a Northwestern University sociologist and community activist. It describes the practice of marking a red line on a map to delineate the area where banks would not invest; later the term was applied to discrimination against a particular group of people (usually by race or sex) no matter the geography. During the heyday of redlining, the areas most frequently discriminated against were black inner city neighborhoods. Through at least the 1990s this practice meant that banks would often lend to lower income whites but not to middle or upper income blacks.

Reverse redlining occurs when a lender or insurer particularly targets minority consumers, not to deny them loans or insurance, but rather to charge them more than would be charged to a similarly situated majority consumer.

HeathAlum21;602124 wrote:Why do you think the arrest numbers are higher per ca pita for black folk? Maybe it's because kids are a product of their environments. Since black folk were in slavery until about 150 years ago, there were Jim Crow laws 50 years ago(Still during the lifetimes of many people), and there is still institutionalized racism today, there seem to be a higher concentration of these folks in areas that are 'less desirable' because they do no have the funds and centuries of wealth behind them that white folks do. Black folks couldn't quite worry about building an empire when they had to worry about their safety.
I know! Makes me mad that most of their (slaves) tribes sold them to Europeans in the first place!

Seriously, that statement is stupid and has no basis in today's world. Much like your statement.

What do YOU suggest by the way? Reparations? How do you determine who's ancestors were brought here by slave sellers and who came of their own means? Should only certain groups of people be treated special? Should they be paid off?
What?

Before we can rectify a problem, people have to at least accept that a problem exists. A majority of white Americans think exactly as you do, that everything is now equal for those of color. They deny that white privilege even exists.

As for your comment about skewing facts, I am not sure what I have altered to any extent. Also, that little blurb from Wikipedia doesn't explain a whole lot of anything.

Furthermore, the national debt comment really had nothing to do with the national debt. It was simply meant to show how ludicrous Webfire's comment was about simply stating something and it being reality. What he was fishing for is the angle that black folks are just complainers and they need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and things will be fine, similar to the thought about those in poverty. And just for the record, I am a 23 year old white male, and I know that I am privileged in society because of my skin color and gender for that matter.

The fact that you would suggest reparations as a way to fix inequality is humorous at best and shows me that you are very ignorant about race relations, etc. I didn't expect people to be receptive, but I can take the berating. I will be back later to continue if you so desire.

White privilege? Is something like affirmative action, or meeting racial quotas contradictory to what we are trying to achieve?

Help the blacks by taking away from the whites! Yeah, that sounds stupid... because it is! How about, instead of all that, the best person for the job is hired, regardless of race, sexual preference, gender, etc.

Who is it that needs to accept some of the things you've mentioned... whites, blacks, red/yellow, all?

You are correct. But you are stating equality cannot be achieved until slavery is rectified. That is not true.

I said no such thing. My point was that even if things did become equal, you would not accept it because the past wasn't rectified. That is ludicrous.

1. I agree with runner. First thing I thought of was had to be a black kid.. Hence basketball. Not sure how many of you remember but not long ago, a white kid, believe H.S. wrestler head butted and KO'd the ref.. and he was sent to prison over it?

2. We don't have to do shit to rectify it. No one posting on here has ever been a SLAVE. Get the fuck over it.

3. As far as =s Now that made me LMFAO

I did not say that. I am offering slavery as part of an explanation, in addition to other factors mentioned, as to why things are in the current state.

I could write you an essay about white privilege if you'd like but I think I will save the time and recommend some reading material if you would like.

Also, I have noticed both repliers have picked on little tiny side notes from my posts and have yet to address the main points in the post. What about institutional racism, etc? I suppose that's a tactic you could use, but it really won't win you many points. That's an old move as far as discussion goes.
