Ian Williams practiced yesterday and according to Kelly moved around quite well. He is cleared to play.

Williams and Robert Hughes were in on the conference call to announce the game. Williams said Miami didn't offer him a scholarship out of high school and said he was too short:
Williams says Miami will find out on New Years Eve.

That is huge.

Ohio State just physically dominated Miami in the trenches for their game. Ohio State's porous special teams coverage and Miami's athleticism kept the game from being an embarrassment for the Hurricanes. I fully believe that if Notre Dame comes out and plays like the Fighting Irish Miami will just puss out and roll over. But we as fans cannot take anything for granted, the offense is still anemic. Having Riddick and Jones back will help greatly, but this game will be won on controlling the ground game. I just don't have enough faith in Tommy Rees to believe he can win this game via passing.

I can't imagine many of the 17 Miami fans going all the way to El Paso for this one. Will probably be a lot of domers in the crowd.

I think I'd favor the Canes by around 3.

You're right. I changed it. Just went back and checked and they have Mountain Time listed on their official website website. My bad.

All the players were worried that he was going to go crazy on them and yell about them fighting. He came into the locker room and says, "Men...leave Jimmy Johnson for me!" The players went crazy...and Rocket said that it was that moment that they knew they were going to beat Miami that day.

Looking forward to this game. Glad to see the Irish got a New Year's Eve bowl so they can take full advantage of the practice time.

Don't like Notre Dame but have always liked Lou. If true that quote by Lou is hilarious.

The Sun Bowl had major network coverage for years (CBS) before the ESPN/cable revolution. If nothing else it is a historical bowl. Better than the Bluebonnet Bowl that didn't continue.

The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl game. It's definitely historic. They get their fair share of big time programs in there. Last year it was Oklahoma vs. Stanford. The year before it was Oregon State vs. Pittsburgh, the year before Oregon played in it. To say it's their biggest game because two 7-5 teams are playing is asinine; it's their biggest game because it's Notre Dame vs. Miami and the ratings will more than likely be the best they've ever had.

No, big deal, but from Wikipeidia: "Its contract with CBS Sports is the longest continuous relationship with one network, spanning since 1968. In January 2010, the Sun Bowl Association extended its agreement with CBS through the 2013 Hyundai Sun Bowl. "

Hyundai? Really? I suppose it is better than Poulan Weedeater.

I think its a good match up, I will probably watch it. Ironic that ND will be starting another consecutive bowl losing streak, the real question is, can they top their NCAA record 9?

Only time will tell.

LOL @ sleeper starting "The Sun Bowl" thread. What a pathetic little man.

Also, Manti Te'o finished with 124 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and one sack. Where does he stand as far as being an all-American? He was on plenty of mid-season all-American lists, and his game didn't fall off. Here's the only defensive stats sheet I could find. I would bet the farm that Boston College's Luke Kuechly is a first-team selection, and I would think Michigan State's Greg Jones is too.

Miami wins a close one. Harris will throw some picks to keep the Irish in it, but Miami is way too athletic for Notre Dame to keep in check the whole game.

that's a helluva haul for the sun bowl...just as long as it isn't that 3-3 debacle of a game a couple years ago between oregon st and pitt
