Thats probably the best possible match-up for both teams. Should be a very entertaining game to watch. Renew the old rivalry.

This should be a great game. Too bad its not an 8pm game tho. New Years Eve games are nice.

Go Irish!!

Classic line:

Reporter (to Notre Dame QB Tony Rice): What do you think of the game being billed as Catholics v. Convicts?
Rice: I don't know, I am Baptist.

Not a bad match up, especially for the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl's CEO has been at the helm for 35 years and said he would have never dreamed he would be able to match these two teams up. Very easily could draw better ratings than a couple of the BCS games. Miami has underachieved (according to some) but their defense against the pass is solid. Rush defense is less than stout though. Will be interesting to see how Kelly attacks them.

Just for fun, the original CBS Catholics vs. Convicts intro from '88- ha, check out how young Musburger looks:

Completely forgot that Miami had won 36 consecutive regular season games going into that one.

Love that video Hamp. I'm hoping everyone on ND's roster watched the 30 for 30 on Miami to get a sense for what this rivalry once was.

Yeah I was only 9 years old, but vividly remember that fight breaking out in the tunnel.

I think this is as good a bowl game as ND could have expected and the fact they're playing Miami makes it even sweeter.

I love Rocket's story about Lou Holtz after the fight broke out. He said that when they went back into the locker room after the fight...Holtz came in fuming mad. All the players were worried that he was going to go crazy on them and yell about them fighting. He came into the locker room and says, "Men...leave Jimmy Johnson for me!" The players went crazy...and Rocket said that it was that moment that they knew they were going to beat Miami that day.

Looking forward to this game. Glad to see the Irish got a New Year's Eve bowl so they can take full advantage of the practice time.

The greatest game we've put together in the 77-year history of the Sun Bowl.
You can’t imagine in your wildest imagination know how excited we are for this football game.
