I know for a fact that is bull s#@t.
Technically since there was no open-enrollment then there were no open-enrollment players.
Technically your right.:P

Were any IC, or Weir, or Edison people complaining when some of our players went to their schools???? Yea, didn't think so, so STFU.
Can't speak for the other schools but when did Edison get a quality athlete from steubenville?

I remember Kopras going to Edison back in 94, and we lost a good freshman a few years ago, don't know how he turned out though, since I never saw an Edison game.

Weir picked up a couple really good football players that helped them win their last state title, and their best basketball player this year lives across the street from Big Red.

IC had two basketball players from Big Red a couple of years ago.

Even Wheeling Park got 2 basketball players from Big Red about a decade ago.

Toronto this past year got our all state tailback.

Point is that is goes both ways, and unless your school NEVER takes a transfer, then you have no room to say anything.

Wow. Edison had 2 in the last 16 years. Should we start counting the other direction?
No names. Just numbers.

There is not a sign on Harding Stadium that says play here or die.Is everyone upset that it happens or that people deny it.No matter how you look at it we are all just one community.I shop in all stores in the area.

Darkon, I'm sure there's more, but I just don't pay attention to Edison sports.

Still the point is that Edison does have OE students, therefore you can't say anything. Do you honestly think that every kid in Edison lives in the Edison school district???

Edison got 2 players since 94. IC got 2 basketball players. WP 2 players. Toronto... Well he quit because the attitude didn't fly there either.

7 athletes since 1994. Do you have any background on them? did they move? Just wondered. Don't ever tell me to STFU... Just cause someone pisses in your cheerios and won't take your shit eveyone all the sudden gets pissy. How does it feel?

Let's get back to Big Red's schedule. What I know for sure is that we are playing in Morgantown week 5 and at Massillon week 7. Beyond that, there are just a lot of rumors.

The rumor that we would play Watterson again has been shot down because the school came out with its schedule and we are not on it. I have also been told that Brooke's schedule came out without us, but I have been unable to confirm this.

I have heard from a reliable source that Big Red will sponsor a classic event this season, but I have heard no details.

The latest rumor is that we will play Marlington. If it happens, it will be a good choice except that we may have to play them twice.

Ursuline people claim that we are on their schedule. It shows that they will visit Harding Stadium week 8. This has not really been confirmed. UHS would be a good choice because both Big Red and Ursuline are small-school powerhouses that will not meet in the playoffs.

I have heard rumors that we will play Akron Buchtel in week one and that we will play them in week two. I assume we will play them in one of those two weeks. Week one would be more logical because we may want to keep week two open for a classic, either in Steubenville or in Pennsylvania.

The rumors are spreading that East Liverpool has dropped us this year. I also heard that they will drop us after 2010, so I don't know who to believe.

I assume we are still playing O'Hara and Wheeling Park.

Again, all I can confirm is that we are playing at Morgantown and Massillon. Nothing else is definite.

I moved. Not only that, but both of my sisters were getting married and I was given a choice... CCHS and no help paying for college, or IC and parents would help. Never wanted to go to Catholic School in the first place. Was a decision my Mother made in 1st grade when I lived with her. Guess I really jumped ship didn't I. Best choice I ever made.

SOS-- Times have changed. Back in my day (the 1960's), Big Red kids went to Big Red and Wintersville kids went to Wintersville and Weirton kids went to Weir High. In today's world, kids shop around for the best deal. This may be good or it may be bad, but it is the way things are. Big Red reaps the benefits of this because we have the best facilities and a good football team. We also have the best-paid teachers. The only way Creek can compete is to start passing levies on a regular basis. This is a problem for Creek that goes well beyond football. I must say that passing the levy for the new middle school was a huge step in the right direction. I hope more things like this happen at Creek.

Fairwood,

Is it just the levies though? Doesn't Steubenville get more State money that any other school in the area? Does the State also match things like levies they pass? I may be completely wrong, but that is what I thought. I think it has something to do with average income or something.

SOS, you're the biggest hypocrite I have ever saw...you did the exact same thing that you're putting others down for.

And you always talk about "hometown pride", but you don't mind it when the Steubenville kids on the west end attend IC.

Also, I lived in Florida for 10 years (94-04), so I don't know every athlete that Big Red lost to other schools, those were just the ones I knew off the top of my head. And those were kids that were actually IN Big Red...not just the school system. If a kid transfers after the 8th grade, then they were never in said school to begin with.

I don't know about more money from the state, but I do know that we have gotten some very big grants based primarily on local support of the schools. That's how we built the new elementary schools and added a lot of things like computer labs to the middle school and high school. Passing those levies has opened a lot of doors for us.

I heard we were getting into a conference, but I didn't hear what other schools were involved. If this were going to be for football only, I would say it would be a great idea. But I just can't see the Big Red girls driving a hundred miles to Marietta for a volleyball game.
