So now Pittsburgh is "local"?? I guess that Burb of the Burg campaign is finally paying off.

Even if we do get players from other schools, so what? We don't recruit. Our program recruits itself. If I were a 14-year-old football player and I thought I had a chance of getting a college scholarship, I would much rather attend a school like Big Red that has put a lot of players in college over the past years than to attend a school that doesn't get nearly as much exposure.
We are not doing anything wrong. If we were, we would have been caught by now.

The Big Red Boosters Club meets Monday evening. Will someone please go there and ask Reno about the 2010 schedule, the situation with ECOL, and stadium renovations? I think we've heard enough rumors and it's time to hear the truth from someone who knows.

Faiwoodking, why keep responding to those types of posts? No one mentions the ones that leave, like the Van Vol....... kid that will probably start as a freshman next year for Cambridge. I watched him in the 8th grade game this past year against Harding and he ate up our offensive line. He is big and quick and much better than his brother, who started for B.R. , was a few years ago. Also we lost Tilman's sons that moved to Columbus with their mother a few years back.FairwoodKing wrote: Even if we do get players from other schools, so what? We don't recruit. The parents of those boys that moved here from Pitts. are teaching at the University; and looking at the Pittsburgh Central Catholic roster, I doubt if the older of the two will be a starter. The other boy is in 8th grade this year; probably get to see him play this season if he goes out for football.
If our local economy does not pick up soon, there will no doubt be a lot more moving around.
Cheers

Believe me, if you are good enough in any sport not just football, the scouts and recruiters will find you. I know because I've been down that road.FairwoodKing wrote: Even if we do get players from other schools, so what? We don't recruit. Our program recruits itself. Getting back to the Boosters Club meeting, I hope someone from this blog will attend the meeting and ask the right questions and then report back to us.
If I weren't 2500 miles away, I would go to the meeting myself.

The booster meeting is tonight (Mon. ). So far, two dates have not been finalized yet; still waiting on a signed contract from them.FairwoodKing wrote: Getting back to the Boosters Club meeting, I hope someone from this blog will attend the meeting and ask the right questions and then report back to us.

Don't forget the ones that went to Weir, or even their allstate bball player who lives across the street from Big Red. Or Cental's TB next year, who played for Harding.SUPER787 wrote:Faiwoodking, why keep responding to those types of posts? We lose kids every year too, but people only notice the ones that come in since they get better do to the program, and then get exposure.

I could name names! If you want them I will PM you.FairwoodKing wrote:If you think we recruit, then prove it or shut up.The Bear wrote: If you keep telling tourself that something is not a lie, does it become true? ie. Big Red does not recruit?
But what would that prove.
I agree that any one in this area who wants exposure and a chance at the next level should attend Big Red.

What I find amusing is that I have talked with the parents of a few of these kids that we've "recruited" (2 from Edison and 1 from Weirton), and I pretty much ask them why they came to Big Red...and they tell me flat out, and none of which involves any coaches coming to visit them.

I like how you included Wiggins as not being from big red. His father only played and graduated from the red.Darkon wrote: MOW. You have been sent a PM.
Just join the Big Red Nation. It will be so much fun winning games and getting to the playoffs, winning a Region Championship or even a State Championship.
Think of all the time you'll save not having to think of NEW ways to hate on us. All that stress will be gone. You'll have a ton of time to role play and to figure out your next battle.

You don't have to prove that the sun rises every day, even on cloudy days the sun rises not everyone sees it but it happens.
