This is a post from a "die hard" Michigan fan friend of mine on Facebook.

"God bless osu fans getting excited over beating a middle of the road big ten team. If only you got this fired up to play wisconsin!"

Sounds very similar to "SEC chest thumping" from SEC fans.

Michigan fans? I didn't know they had anymore fans. Being losers and especially with Ohio State having their # I'd expect any true Michigan fans would have jumped ship a long long time ago.

Why would true fans jump ship?

And if they did jump ship, i assume itll be like OSU fans in the 90's theyll all jump back on when it turns around

A few things wrong with this quote. I don't know any OSU fans that jumped ship in the 90s. It's not like they were bad like M*ch*gan is right now. They just couldn't seem to win two games each year. Just happened to be the two biggest. At the same time I don't know any M*ch*gan fans that jumped ship either. I will say there are probably less M*ch*gan fans around Ohio as there was in the 90s and more douchbag OSU fans. My theory on this is that most of those douchbags are young and probably would have been M*ch*gan fans in the 90s cause they want to cheer for a winner. Since OSU was dominating when they started really getting into college football. In the 90s if you wanted to be a "rebel" in central Ohio you became a M*ch*gan fan. Obviously that's not every young douchbag OSU fan and that's just my theory

As for how M*ch*gan fans are feeling. How could they not be getting bitter. I remember having to hear crap from bandwagon M*ch*gan fans in the 90s and it will make you bitter.

Michigan is at a crossroads, they have a big positive going for them with their history (more on this below), but IMO they need to do one thing NOW.

Get rid of RichRod and get Harbaugh. Harbaugh has the energy and intellect to steer the program back to an every year top 10 power. RichRod offers nothing more than being a JV version of Mike Leach's offense. Michigan doesn't have a future with him.

To the point above, Michigan has a great positive with their history - and their fanbase is more than willing to support the program. But on the other hand, there are some negatives. The state of Michigan is economically in the toilet, the recent downturn has affected it more than any other state....even if it is a national school it still hurts. To that point, from an academic standpoint UM has suffered a lot in the last few years, it continues to fall in many of its schools' 'rankings' (which I think can be arbitrary, but many people pay attention to it). It isn't the most 'fun' school to attend, there are cultural issues in Ann Arbor. But back to football, Tressel has more or less killed the Ohio recruiting pipeline. Years ago Michigan could get the best recruits from Ohio (Howard, Crable, Burgess, Grbac, Woodson, etc.), now they get Ohio's leftovers.

"I don't know any OSU fans that jumped ship in the 90s. "

That's because none did. OSU filled up every bowl they were invited to - it was the '99-'00 seasons that evidenced that the Cooper era was over.

"Buckeyes played very good. Still say GO BLUE! The team that owns the most wins against OSU and every other team as well. Best tradition is in ANN ARBOR!"

That's the best from a Michigan fan on my friends of Facebook.

Yes, but OSU was still a top ranked team in the 90's, UM is not a top ranked team now.

As far as UM fans becoming bitter and disenfranchised......I think some really have and some haven't. I know many UM fans that are such defeatists now it isn't even fun to banter with them anymore.

i don't thnk Harbaugh is going to be the next guy in Ann Arbor... from what I've heard he's burned a ton of bridges in Ann Arbor with some comments in the media.

Should be interesting to see what way the new AD handles things... coming from the corporate world, which can be a pretty cuthroat, results driven business, I could see him making a ton of big decisions, not only in Football but in other sports should take notice as well and win as many games a possible

The burnt bridges were rebuilt. That isn't an issue. The issue is that I truly believe Harbaugh wants to be in the NFL. Would he even come to Michigan?

Actually had some scUMers at our tailgate today. Every single on of them wants DickRod gone. I told them OSU supporters have already started a fund raising campaign to save his job...we looooove the guy...he just needs 4 - 5 more years to really get his "system" working. Absolute fkng genius this man is.

Seriously. Are you young or just naive?

OSU fans were doing this during the Cooper Era and when Michigan owned them.

All teams have their "fair-weather" fans. Give it a break.

I know plenty who put away their OSU jackets and clothes and acted like it was no big deal that they were owned during the Cooper era. Now, they have their OSU stuff back out, etc.

Michigan fans will do it again "IF" they ever turn things back around.
