Shot ourselves in the right foot , then shot ourselves in the left foot, and then shot ourselves in the middle foot. Penalties- turnovers. Some players not 100%, but that wasn't the difference. Copley was a fast and good hitting team but you can't do what we did and win. Lesson learned the hard way.

Not much to be said after that one. Penalties. Turnovers. The offense got a HUGE wake up call tonight. I think we now know that we can't win games just by throwing 50 yard bombs to Turner and Brenner, especially with an eqaully athletic team.

The good thing is, it is only week 3 and we are 2-1....which is where we usually are going into league play.

I can't wait to see how this team responds next week!

Let's go to work and get the W next week! Go Riders!

Our coaches had better figure out how the heck to adjust to what the other team gives you. In the first half Copley couldnt stop the run and all we did was throw. We were outcoached tonight but that is no surprise. Our coaching staff has accepted the many stupid penalties we will receive and dont even say anything to the kids. Devault would rather walk 30 yds down the sideline away from the team than to get in their face and hold them accountable. I will go ahead and be the guy that says on here what a lot of the Orrville fans say at the games but are afraid to say here. I could care less what anyone thinks of me. ALso tell me why we dont have signals like most teams? we would rather run Lichti in and out to receive plays and wear him out. This is absolutely ridiculous! This team has all the talent in the world but will lose to average teams like Copley all year if we dont get our heads out of our _ _ _ and play football! I know its only one game but the penalties have been a problem since Devault has become our coach. As kids why would you stop if the coach isnt gonna say anything to you!!!! I will always be an Orrville football fan but will never be a Doug Devalt fan. Coach Mac are you still out there somewhere? How about Mo? Or how about anyone that wants to instill some discipline in a football team?

WOW! Get ready this thread just got life put into it!!!

I have noticed a change in coaching as well. Since I graduated in 2008, the discipline has changed and you can see the result on the field. Note, when I played yes we did have penalties, but nothing to this affect, add in the player suspensions and their goes another example of team discipline. I love Coach Davault and the coaching staff, I just think they have become very leniant in their coaching.

Some good points you have there but I assure you that you are way off base when it comes to our Coach...

Just for the record, it's Davault !

we had it all. dropped passes. fumbles, ints,6 turnovers, poor passes, penalties out the wazzoo, slick ball did not help, QB lost all confidence, and still we should have won? Regroup, learn from it and beat Lex and run the table in the OCC. We can do better...let's start now. we do have a great defense. Noseguard owned the field tonight. We just have to develop some confidence on offense and quit the stupid stuff. we'll be fine. When you can play that bad and still have a chance to win in the end....oh well.

I think a loss is just what this team needed.

We have to figure something out offensively. We cannot keep trying to be a passing team with a QB that has zero confidence right now and looks like he is throwing "pies" instead of footballs. He has no touch on his ball when we need it and when we need a ball thrown hard...he misses badly! I am ready for a change at that spot. Last night was his 17th game as a starting QB and I have seen NO IMPROVEMENT AT ALL!!!

Throwing the kid under the bus...last week i read how much he had seasoned and improved....sounds like you were in a position to win the game until a fumble inside the 10 in the closing minute....and AFTER a completion another chance to win it but lost a fumble in overtime...2 shots to win...2 fumble...neither by the QB....remember its a TEAM sport...you cant put it on one kids shoulders!

I think Red Rider Nation is right. I can't remember a time when an Orrville team was less disciplined as they are now. I know penalties will occur, I know you will turn the ball over, but at the rate both are happening, we will lose some games we should win. No offense to 5knots, but 6 turnovers don't cut it at any level. Combine them with the STUPID penalties, and you get what you get. You don't deserve to win those games. Discipline will help with both.

The offense really sputtered. We have 4-5 really talented kids on both sides of the ball and muster only 7 points?? It's time to get real. RUN THE FOOTBALL!! Can we find a way to get Mason and Stewart more involved in the running game?? Hell, without Mason's monster attitude against NW, we might be 1-2. Something to think about.

One more thing. Let's get the kids a little more motivated for what's at stake here. We have a legit shot at a deep run this year but I think there is some complacency. We should play every week like it's our last. Are we taking for granted a playoff appearance? If so, it is the same mindset as the discipline, it will just happen. BIG TROUBLE!!

Im not ready for a change at QB yet. I just dont understand why on earth when you have a player like Stew Turner you cannot figure out how to get him the ball. He touched the ball maybe 3 times last night and one of those was for a TD. The kid is obviuosly frustrated and once again that is the coaches fault. When you have a kid like that who can make things happen he needs touches. Mason played a great game last night but he cant do it by himself. Say what you want about the coach but he is out on an island the entire game and that bothers me a lot. He is usually isolated so far away from the team and to me that is not coaching. If you watch his demeanor and actions the entire game you will know exactly what I am talking about. I see zero enthusiasm out of our entire staff. I appreciated the fact that when we fumbled towards the end of the game Viscount from Copley was jumping around on the field with excitement and entusiasm. That is non existent in Orrville. Several of our coaches walk out onto the field before our team even comes out of the locker room. RIDICULOUS!!!

On the QB. Stop getting all over his case! He does have flaws but he also took us deep last year. Let's start running the ball more and take some pressure off of him.

Memo to QB coach..............Teach Lichti to run with the ball. He has open lanes but doesn't look to run. It will give defenses something to watch on film and prepare for. He doesn't have confidence because we don't him any.

Look Im not trying to throw Lichti under the bus as Beast stated and to say Lichti took us deep is a bit of a stretch..I think we played 14 weeks of football last season for one reason..DEFENSE!
We can not keep putting it on our defense's shoulders. At some point we have to do something on offense that is UN-predictable.

Well with all due respect...Lichti was under center for that run, ( i realize his youth showed in his 1-17? performance late last year) but its not really on HIM to make the offense UN-predictable...thats on the coach/O Coord...

a fumble inside the 10 by the running game in regulation (as i was told) and a fumble inside the 5 by a wide receiver in OT....2 shots at winning the game....Then all would be rosy and an individual wouldnt be thrown under the bus...Orr would be 3-0....just saying

When playing the QB position you get too much credit when you win and you get too much blame when you lose. It comes with the position though. I wasnt really supported either when I played, similar to what Lichti is going through right now, but you know what....you put that red rider uniform on and you go out every Friday night to play your very best for the community, even if they don't like you oh well. Football is special here in Orrville. Those that have never played the position probably couldn't handle the pressure and criticism.

Agreed. You need thick skin, a short memory, and a little scrambling ability doesn't hurt either..
