Honestly, if my team voted down a bowl game, I would find a new team.

Are you really going to call non-Ohio State fans arrogant? Jesus fucking Christ! Look at your signature! "Leading America to Excellence" reeks of arrogance. It may be the best school in Ohio (and I'm getting a quality free education here) but it's not Harvard. And don't get me started with the whole THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY bit. Do you really need the "the?"
I go to Ohio State, they're all a bunch of arrogant pricks! I've seen little more than humility from the Notre Dame posters on freehuddle.com. You are an absolute joke.

I'll wait. I have Latin at 5:30 so I have the free time.
Stop by religion/bible 101 on your way there.... Not so sure God would approve his name being used that way...

Are we really arguing if Notre Dame is the only team that can deny a bowl bid after a 6-6 season? Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Awesome thing to be proud of: either (insert domain name).com bowl or the GMAC bowl. Wow, what a luxury!

Ohio State, USC, Michigan, Florida, etc, any big time college football program/state school can make this decision, but won't because they aren't full of arrogant assholes like ND.
You're so full of shit I can smell it from here. ND is the ONLY school that has that luxury, the only one!
Oh please... this is the worst spin I've ever seen... the only school that has the luxury to reject a bowl bid? News flash... you're not the first team to.
There have been teams that have rejected Bowl bids because of much more honorable reasons such as racial injustice (I forget the school, but they were invited but told their black player wasn't allowed to participate and the team decided not to go instead).
ND is not special like they used to be... they haven't been for years.

Uhh, what did he say that wasn't true. Check some of the ND posters that believe ND is the best program in the nation, well where the hell are the results?
Can you give an example of a ND fan saying they are the best program in the country?
Lou Holtz
An old senile man is really the example you are going to fall back on? ND fans think he is stupid. I am still waiting on a post that says they are the best team in the country.
Hey, the only parameters was to name a fan who thinks the program is the greatest... I did that.
If you want another example, look at a few of the ND fans on this board. They still believe that ND is the greatest program. Check out Rock I think who has proclaimed that ND is the only program great enough to have the "luxury" of denying bowl invites.

Again experts.........how many 6-6 football teams out there will be offered multiple bowl invites? One other thing, you guys can't have it both ways, you talk about teams declining bowl games in the past for certain reasons but many of you give the excuse about some people living in the past. Trust me, there aren't many 6-6 programs declining a bowl game in todays era.

I dont see them accepting a Bowl Bid. Like they said, the cost of the trip might be more than the payout they'll get from the game itself.
Besides, there's too much pride at that University. nobody wants to see Notre Dame in the Eaglebank Bowl, The Humanitarian Bowl, or the Pizza Bowl.

Play a bowl game, period. If the players decide they want to decline a bowl bid that will show how big of LOSERS they actually are. Right now, I'm not calling them losers. They didn't meet their goals this year. It happens. When their careers come to an end, every one of them will be saying they'd give anything for one more ride. Those will be the same fools that took the game of football for granted and didn't step out onto the football field when they had the chance. I don't care if it will lose the university money. I doubt it's that much anyways. Not for a program that just fired a coach that they owe 18M. I don't care if the TE coach has to be the head coach for the game. You signed up to play football, so do what's expected, COMPETE. If they decline a bowl bid because it doesn't meet their expectations, then that tells you everything you need to know as to why they were only .500.

What worries me about accepting a bowl bid with an interim coach in place is the fact that ND failed miserably the last time they were in that scenario when they fired Willingham. They had no fire what so ever but hey, they had no fire under Weis so it may be different this time around.

Also, I haven't really weighed in on the subject at hand yet.
I will laugh at Notre Dame if they reject an invite. It is a matter of arrogance/lack of humility. If the players really want to get better they will take their lumps (disappointing end of the season) and move on. By accepting a bowl bid they get extra practice time and more game time. Yes, they will have a new coach next year, but they still need work regardless of the system.

That could run in so many different ways. They could lay an egg or they could rally like WVU did under Bill Stewart and basically a staff full of GA's(yes, I know very different situation.

IMO, it depends if Weis is allowed to coach the bowl game.

Even if he were extended that option I don't think he'd want to do it. Seems like he'd much rather want to accept the decision the administration has made and move on.

Most of your post is right, yes I am a die hard UM fan and yes the ND win is about the only good thing that happend for UM this year ad they wont have the opportunity to vote on going to a bowl because they went 5-7 (doubt that UM would even consider not going) but once again no I am not Lorain Steelman I never posted on JJ huddle and you are still a idiot.

If i was a senior on that team, i would be beyond pissed.
If i was an underclassmen, and i was one of those who voted that i wanted to play in a bowl game, and my teammates voted against it, i would transfer.
I understand what Rock is saying, and agree, for the most part. However, if, for example, ND along with OSU, Texas, etc., were also 6-6, then they would also be getting multiple bowl invites.
He's right in his argument if only taking into account this year, but in another year, it could be completely different.
P.S. Whoever said OSU is the best university in the State, as far as academics is concerned...you're wrong.
A great place to do graduate-level work, and certainly the best in the state, IMO, but as far as undergrad goes, there are certainly better institutions. But i guess it is all a matter of opinion, and it is still a great school, just don't think it is the outright "best."

Its fitting someone with Old in their username would say that. WW2 is over grandpa, come up with new jokes.
OldDanTucker is a cheap ass wisky that I use to drink in my younger days I wasn't even thought of during WW2. I will continue to call them Notre Lame, just like others will continue to call UM scUM. Also I will continue too dislike Notre LAME and O$U (Tiernan im sure that I am not the only person in the world to do that for the suckeyes, since Lorain whatever did it on JJ so you say and I know several others on other websites that do)

That's a shame, since they were few and far between BEFORE...do you have ANY left now?
Please tell me how the statement I made differs from ND's situation...oh wait, nevermind. Just like on JJHuddle, you don't make any valid points on threads, you just attack other people who are trying to have a discussion of the topic. Do you have any VALUABLE input or not? Based on past history, I'd say no. So go away.
