Why should we be afraid, when we're so superior to other races? It's really more snooty condescension than fear.

Basic logical syllogism, and I'm going on the assumption that you don't think you're stupid yourself.

If person's clothes = looking stupid, and
If looking stupid = probably being stupid, and
If bLuE_71 =/= stupid, and
If society thinks stupid = a negative thing, then

bLuE_71 is socially > than people wearing the aforementioned clothes.

The definition of "stupid" is a state that exists within the mind, not over top of the body.

Thus, what a person THINKS (or doesn't think) is what makes him stupid.

Based on what people THINK on this topic, if I had to hedge a bet on someone being "less than intelligent," I know where my chips would go.

Alright O-Trap you have made me see the light.

I shouldn't judge a book by its cover I get it.

PM me and we can discuss who's intelligent and who's not.

Well, there are exceptions to every rule.

You mean like how when "dumbasses" stereotype gun owners as just wanting to kill people?

I don't assume anyone is a dumbass by how they look or dress.......but I may assume they are AWESOME and if they speak like they look then I'll move it up to dumbass level.

Honestly, I think a lot of it is more classicism than racism. People of any race with modest to wealthy means tend to be uneasy in areas with people who are much more destitute. You also learn as you get older that "punks" can often mean trouble, and that's also distinguished by their dress. Put the same guy in rags and dirty vs. clean-shaven in a suit and I can tell you with 99% certainty who people - of all races - will find more threatening. Put that guy in a cop uniform and maybe the answers are a little different, LOL. Now, because people of different cultures/ethnicity have different styles of casual dress that probably leads to mistakes in gauging someone as a threat.

I'm not saying racism doesn't exist or isn't strong in some people, but I think a lot of the "fear" is borne more out of socio-economic status than race. I consider the "ghetto", the "barrio" and "hicksville" all pretty equally threatening. If I had to choose, I'd obviously go with hicksville because at least I won't be a victim of racism. In reality I know my chances of being beaten or robbed are pretty equal in any of those places.

I didn't post an opinion on the matter, but I wonder if the ratio of arrests made correlate with the fear of race?

This could be wrong, but I remember seeing a statistic done with a .gov website in high school that 1% of Caucasians, 3% of Hispanics, and 12% of African American males are currently in prison. I wish I could find this link. I wonder if subconsciously people are fearful of a greater chance of something happening solely based on the statistical probability?

In any other subject, anyone could use this data to make decisions. Say you are in vegas and you were playing slot machines. If 1 slot machine had a 1% chance of winning, the 2nd had a 3% chance, and the 3rd had a 12% chance, would that affect your feelings of which to play?

Obviously the analogy is not the same, but maybe it's something more than "racism" .. But maybe not.
Just food for thought.

It's all part of the prison industrial complex. Think of all the goods and services that go into the prison. There have to be inmates. Why not put other races that have already been put at a disadvantage by history and place 100 percent of the blame on the individual?

Thinking that minority groups with the same skin color would likely be on the same team is like thinking that intelligent white people would be on the same team as Klan members. I don't side with people because they're white like me...I do so because of shared beliefs (whether of significant things or superficial things).

Agreed, and well-said. I happen to know two people from Somalia, for example, who hate each other (there has actually been rape and attempted murder back and forth between their families as a result of their hatred).

The reason, I found out, is because their tribes have a VERY different social status back in Somalia. While the Somali Somalis are a sort of bourgeois, the Somali Bantus are more of a slave tribe.

They look the same, have a similar accent, and are from the same country. However, they couldn't be more divided with hate for one another.
