fantastic game last night even though my dawgs didn't pull it out. Mckean is really one of those special players. As a Dalton fan, I am very excited by the play of soph chase moyer the last month of the season, he has really turned up his game. Both teams definitely have the ability to win their district. Congrats to coach Alberts as well - there is just no more consistent coach in the county, year in and year out his teams are in the hunt. ( On a side note, great season by the dalton jv as they were 18-1 which is good to see for a team losing most of its varsity for next year).

Just want to say that NW and Dalton Played one hell of a game and that I do believe that NW is the first team in WCAL History to get Championships and Sweep the three winter sports.........They also have the chance at being the first team to get all three league MVPs ...............We'll see on that...............I also believe that Daltons Gym was built during the Civil War Era.....I heard that Abraham Lincoln's body was going to be displayed there when traveling back to Illinois after he was killed, but there was not enough room even back then.........................

Actually that was the old high school gym with the end lines up against the wall and seating on the stage. It is now the jr high and you can probably book a tour and remember the early 1960's NW vs Dalton battles in that crackerbox.

you guys are both wrong - lincoln is actually buried under the south hoop of the jr high gym (little known fact). In reality, I believe the high school opened in the late 60s and the jr high in the early 20's. I don't think they get the record for oldest jr high gym, though as I think hillsdale middle school's is older.

Last graduating class in the old high school ( now jr high ) was 1966, first class in the present school was 1967.

Just read an article in the Post (Northern Wayne Version)....
Apparently Rittman coach Milosevich decided to make his first game against powerhouse Richmond Hts, who pulled their own strange manuever by choosing to stay in the same half bracket as Bedford Chanel.
Now call me crazy...but if I had a chance to get in the other half bracket away from the 2 powerhouses...I'd jump on it. I know you gotta play em sooner or later...but why sooner? Any Opinions?
Some may call this decision "ballsy", I think its just silly. 1486, Russell, Madman...thoughts?

"Now call me crazy..."
....Don't tempt me! You have a valid point, IMO. Perhaps some kind of deal was struck, but it doesn't make any sense to me, either. Now maybe you can get off my case with your "funny" comments on our threads? "Just sayin'".

An upset is more likely in the opening round than in later rounds. No film, no scouting report, just pure basketball.
Goliath had no film on David. Just saying.

1. Bloody, I agree with you 100%, idk about that decision. I have stated before I think this Rittman team is very capable of making a run, but Idk if that was the logical decision in helping do so. I could send you a private message of many things I don't understand this year concerning coaches in our league, but it would take forever to read haha. Maybe Milo knows something we don't.
2. BRF, when I am home from Spring break, I hope to see you and RR1 at the Wooster district, assuming The Red and Green are still in!

Rittman beat them 4 years ago when they were 22-0 and #2 in the state. Maybe they feel a little majic again? They do play in a very weak conference (Richmond). There are a lot of good teams at Garfeld Heights. to me, the team to watch out for is MLK. I do think Rittman makes a run to the district semis against Chanel, that could be the stopping point or who knows. Dalton has a decent draw, how neat for the county would it be to have a Dalton vs. Rittman district final, it's just too bad it's all the way in Garfield Heights

Milo's decision may have hinged on the ousting of the RH coach. I think I read somewhere that the Head Coach was gone this weekend and will not be returning. That could hinder or help...but whatta I know...I'm a wrestling guy.

When I first read the article, I was kind of shocked that Milo would put himself in the same half of the bracket with Chanel and open up against Richmond Heights. But the more I think about it, the more I see where he made the right decision. Richmond Heights has been having problems within their program and that has to start wearing on the kids at some point. I actually see Rittman beating Richmond Heights (5-15 points) but then when they run into Chanel they are in trouble. Good Luck to all WCAL teams!

Richmond Hts has not had any problems on the floor as they won last night against DII Painesville Harvey (12-7) by 70-62 and are now 19-0, so I see the players have moved on and continue to play good basketball, so that might not have been a wise bracket choice for Rittman after all.

i am surprised heMilosevich jumped into that half as well with probably the best 2 teams in the district in that half. I don't know quite what to make of this other than the idea of trying to play someone new. Rittman was beaten soundly by Dalton twice and he may just be trying to change it up a little and see if the tribe can get some momentum against new opponents. They have the athletes to hang with anyone, but as you can see with their sub .500 record, they haven't shown the "team" ability to do so. When I watched Rittman this year, their offense consisted of someone shooting a three or trying to take it to the hole themselves - very little drive and dish, etc.
