So gbigg what is your soultion? Parents have the following choices.

1. Send their kids to Chaney and East
2. Use a voucher and send their kids to Mooney, Ursuline, or Youngstown Christian.
3. Move to the suburbs of Boardman, Liberty, Girard, Poland, Hubbard, Austintown.

Just a small addendum to your post. Liberty, Girard, Hubbard, and Austintown are open enrollment. But if a kid chooses to go there it's ok. They only play the kids they have not like those evil parochial schools who have a whole geographic area to recruit.

This is my view - A school can have some open enrollment but should be only a few, not wide open. Even the Big Red bring in players or pull from the area because they win a lot of games. As I said I like watching these teams play and would pay to see them but I feel for the teams that can't and have to play against these teams that load up every year so they can say look at us and who we play. They are kids and they are good but its not fair to play all star teams every year and hope your team may have enough to knock them off once in a while.

You still fail to answer my question? What alternative do you suggest that parents in Youngstown do? As far as your reference to all star teams. Why has there been more D1 athletes to come out of public schools in Youngstown then the two private schools?

So what you are essentially saying is that a few kids should be able to better their chances at a better school? While the others are left behind? In most of your minds this is about football but in all actuality football is a small part. You all are making it so big.

As for now it's the rules so what I think doesn't matter , good luck this year to all the football teams and best luck to all. This matter to me is closed !!

Because you really have no argument except to whine about what you perceive to be wrong. Once given real facts and information you give up just like good old thinthick.

I tell you what let all the schools have full open enrollment and let the best team win. I think you are trying to ease your mind on why these schools stack their team every year. I'm not going with your reason since I'm not from the area to know what is going on so I can't give you an answer on what you asked.

Every school can have open enrollment if they want. In fact, most schools have STATEWIDE open-enrollment. So technically, a kid from Youngstown could go to Cleveland for school if that school is a statewide OE school.

Fish you ever been to Coldwater or southern Mercer County? Six foot 180 is the average and that's just the high school girls.

68% of the schools in Ohio have statewide open enrollment 13% have interdistrict open enrollment while the rest are closed enrollment. Toledo Whitmer is closed enrollment and they had 6 transfers come in this summer. You've already admitted to having no knowledge of the area then why speak on it.

I'm speaking on stacked teams and how it makes the other D5 schools have not much of a chance to win, bigger schools may have a little better chance but look at who won last year like what YOU posted. It proves my point !!

I get what you are trying to point out. And it's what other people have said. It really is more than just private/public. People feel that it isn't fair for a school that is located in a city (even one as small as Youngstown) to be in a division with schools that are in a completely rural area with far less people.

But the argument doesn't fly with me. Yes, schools like Ursuline and Mooney have "more kids" that could possibly attend their school, while schools like Coldwater, Versailles, Marion Local, etc. may not have that many kids in their district or surrounding districts. However, in the cases of those small town public schools...MOST of the time they are the ONLY option for kids. That is not the case for someone in the Youngstown area. A person living in Youngstown has the choice of sending their child to the Youngstown City Schools, Mooney, Ursuline, Youngstown Christian, Austintown Fitch, Jackson Milton, Loweville, Sebring, Struthers, West Branch, Western Reserve, Girard, Hubbard, Howland, Liberty, Niles, Warren Harding, and a few other choices as well. So to say that the Catholic schools have an advantage over those small town public schools when they are competing for students with literally ALL of those schools is completely absurd.

Honestly, what do you have against punctuation? You'd think an English Major would slap a period here or there every once in a while.

I expect once the playoffs start and the publics are getting totally destroyed at all levels once again there will be another uprising for justice to be done . Lets hope next time something is actually done .

There is an 'uprising' from sore losers every year. Same thing will happen that always does. Nothing.

When you learn how to spell, you can discuss punctuation issues

I'll ignore you, but at least you won't look as silly as you usually do
