Its fact that Campbell had a weak schedule last season, at 9-1 and on the road week 11. Brookfield wasn't in the division last season, and they're d6 now i believe. Brookfield has moved up to D-4 this season. Yes, D-4. OHSAA and JJ Huddle have them there. This forum is starting to become just as bad as JJ Huddle was, with nothing but bickering back and forth.
The schedules and division assignments are what they are, regardless if there is open enrollment or not. OHSAA looks at the number of boys in grades 10-12 regardless if they play sports or don't. We should all be thankful that there is such great high school football in this area and enjoy it.

So, Struthers shouldn't play Campbell anymore, as long as they're in seperate divisions, and Struthers is only holding Campbell back because they're so horrible?? Campbell doesn't make the playoffs last year, without the computer points they got from beating Struthers. I just want to get things straight. By your logic, Struthers should only play a couple other D3 schools, and everyone else they play should be either D1 or D2, and we should throw tradition out the window.

How can I be uninformed, and be right at the same time? I'm well aware of all the divisions. What does that have to do with my post? I really didn't think that what I said before was all that bad... so I ask, stop what? I didn't take any cheap shots at Campbell, or anyone else.

I stated opinions, and backed up what I said with reasons... especially about Campbell. Campbell should be one of the better D5 teams in the area, but a lot has to happen.

East Liverpool (D3), East (D2), Lakeview (D4), and Hubbard (D3) are all strong teams, three of the four made the playoffs last year... Liberty, LaBrae, and Girard are all common opponents. Jefferson (D3) was 4-6 last year, and except for their QB, they have their entire team coming back. Next year, they'll play Poland, Howland, Canfield, Niles... Campbell probably won't even be the best team Struthers will play this year, or for the foreseeable future after. Struthers will be the best team that Campbell will play this year though.

I expect Struthers to drop back down to D4 sometime within the next few years too. They were D4 all throughout their time in the MAC, playing up to the likes of Poland, Howland, Canfield, Niles, Alliance (when they were in the MAC). They've been playing Liberty and Hubbard for the past 13 years, and they scheduled Mooney from 1998-2000, and Warren JFK from 2003-2006. I don't know what Campbell's schedule has looked like since '98, and I don't doubt they had stiff competition, but to say that Struthers has played teams that are below them is kinda unwarranted and incorrect.

Good luck against Ursuline in the Regional Finals though.

I see your point. By your reasoning, East should beat Poland nine times out of ten, Boardman should beat Howland nine times out of ten, and eight of the ten teams on Campbell's schedule should beat them nine times out of ten. Coaching, tradition, talent, and work ethic should have nothing to do with it. They're a bigger school, so they should automatically beat us 90% of the time.

We all know that isn't how it works.

I don't buy the we're D3, but we're really D4, argument either. I do think Struthers is a better fit in D4, but they're D3 for now... no way around it, and no saying otherwise.

Traditionally though, Struthers has played a tough schedule year in and year out... regardless of their division and the divisions of their opponents. I wasn't the one who implied that Struthers played a more difficult schedule. That was you. If that's what you want me to say, then yes. I believe Struthers plays the harder schedule this year, and I believe they have been playing a consistently harder schedule since the rivalry was renewed back in 1999. By my count, Struthers has a 7-6 advantage over Campbell since then.

Brookfield is definatly Division 6 this year trust me out of all people i would know. As for the scheduling struthers should have a tougher schedule being d3 as they do have alot tougher schedule but its high school football it happens

All I know is this game better NEVER leave week 10 and we need to start raising HELL just from the rumblings we've heard. The BEST rivalry in the area deserves to continue in week 10!!

Campbell will be playing a majority of there games outside there div mostly div 3-4 and and i think one div 5 team. i have to look. But guys I'm saying this as a positive for all fans this year. Campbell will be a very strong contender in div 5! I have seen a practise and talk to two guys at the practice. I was there with my son and was gonna talk to the coach about my son but there was someone doing interviews so i didn't attempt it. But the guy said he stops and watches practice with the guy he was with. He claims to have knowledge to the team and has been watching some practice over the years. Like 29 years he believes. and he told me these kids are gonna be a great bunch to watch. and he said he puts his stamp on Reyes. I don't know the guy but seemed to know alot about the team. I brought up that i heard there was no real senior leadership. He said bull Sh*^ on that. He truly thinks this team will be the best of the new era. He said on the lines of this defense is gonna put a hurt on teams. Only weakness he can see and it ain't much is if Ja'les gets hurt that it could put a damper on the backfield. I thought to my self like Duhh. But he said there is a kid that could possibly be a stand in just waiting. And Yes that is Ltrel Hughes. he is speed. According to him and i seen him taking some hand offs! He seems a little faster then Ja'les and looked a bit taller. He thinks they can go Undefeated and that all depends on the kids and injuries. So far other then cramps there is nobody he knows of hurt. And of course no real hitting. But Numbers are up and so is size. there not small. Now on my opinion it will come down to Reyes and the line this year.

Now onto struthers. My Ex Brother in law has seen a few practice and according to him Struthers is working very hard and look like some good size this year compared to other years. He thinks they have a real good shot at a winning record this year. And the Qb put some muscle on. How that helps i don't know till i get a look at them with Indian creek. Btrev as far as i know i will attend the scrimmage. Creek will give them a battle.

Guys i hope this forum don't turn into a shouting match! Well all know Spread has a bias opinion and so will Btrev. Let them have there opinion who are we to Judge anyone. And same goes for them. I respect Spread LOL sometimes. Most will tell you we didn't get along much at the beginning! Its a forum for people to express there thoughts on the team. If Omemorial thinks Campbell will go 6-4 it could very well happen. They can go 2-8 nobody knows. I am a optimistic. But a realistic also. If i see something that could have gave me the feeling of doubt ill tell you. This Campbell team should be very Solid this year. there is not to many kids that have not had experience either last year or at the JV level.

You knew a shouting match was gonna break out eventually. Why not get it out of the way now, so everyone can save face with each other and stay civil during the season?

I'm not sure how much he'll be asked to run this year, but his bulking up is important because he's probably more dangerous running with the ball, than he is dropping back to pass. At least, he was last year. It's probably safe to say that he isn't the only one who's added muscle over the offseason either.

All I said was that Campbell could start 9-0... which I knew reddevil90 believed is possible... and I stated my reasoning for why I thought that. Then I get accused of being uninformed, and a war of words about the schedules breaks out. I never said anything derogatory about Campbell, even when shots were taken at Struthers... that were pretty ridiculous in their own right.

I have heard the campbell struthers game will be moved up next year in response to aac moving to 2 divisions...i prefer it later in the year but i can see the reasoning.

i can see the idea...with campbell and struthers drifting apart in terms of size and the conference expanding, it makes sense to have your important conference games back loaded. nobody would want campbell girard play week 1 and it potentially decide the conference.

I agree. At least Struthers and Campbell will still be playing each other. The game will still be good for Campbell to win for computer points no matter when it is played.

No they aren't. Brookfield moved up to D-4 this year.

I haven't been on here in quite some time, but I too have heard that the lack of leadership rumors are false.

Now, we have lost alot of experience and leadership and that will hurt. The schedule at the beginning doesn't help either with all the away games early on. It is one thing to be the team that no one respects and you play with that chip on your shoulder. That is how we were last year. It is another thing to be the team with the huge bullseye on your chest. Teams are gonna give you their all and then some this year. Will the leadership from the seniors hold up?

The real issue here is the defense. We gave up exactly 21 point per game last year. Some people will say well Manchester scored 53 so that makes the numbers worse. Well, take away the playoff games and we gave up 19.9 points per game. Unacceptable. I have failed to see hard physical style of defensive play in a long time at Campbell. Maybe this defense will show me something. I hope so. If the defensive line is as good as everyone is saying, then we have a chance.

I believe that this year will be a successful one. I believe 7-3 is a realistic goal. That should get us a playoff berth in DV. Last year we were #5, if we had the same points, we would have been #2 in region 17.

Anyway, Good Luck to The Red Devils this year. I hope to make it to most of the games this year.

I don't know why people think we wont b good enough to beat all the teams. I say we are. We lost some good players. But who knows what we will end up at the end of the year. We have great coaches and a team that believes we are not gonna be beat. the kids have seen many wins. they are not the old devils by far. And i agree with OldSchool. We have not seen any defense worth bragging about since 1989 and 1990. Not even the 1999 Frankie Minnie Defense was a true dominance. And we all know why that was not a true dominant defense. They did a tremendous job turning that team around in the little time they had. I believe a little over a month of practice under rozum. Kids are coming out in bigger number each year. And we all know that Campbell has produced some of the most prolific backs in the Youngstown area. And even though DJK left his senior year and what not. He was a Campbell player for 3 years. we have people that have played in the NFL and i don't need to say all there names. I Promise you that if McCullough didn't blow his knee out in preseason he would have went onto becoming a great nfl back. Who is really on the schedule worth worrying about. I say Campbell is on the schedule that is worth worrying about. I have my fears of 3 maybe 4 games. but i think we can pull out 2 or 3 of those games. Ja'les might not have the same blockers he had last year. But i'm sure that blocking broke down and he made something happen also. i watched some highlights of him and there was a lot of times he broke loose on his own. the line is big still and strong also. Just sit back and trust when i say we will Rock Knapick field this year. I have not had a good feeling before the season as i have now in years. Realistically we should have a down year right? I don't believe that. I say we have the best run in the playoffs in 21 years.

I agree Lets_go! We done that for about 5 years after the Rival was reborn in the late 90's! I didn't like it and was against it. but that was cause Struthers was Playing in the MAC back then and there last couple of games where MAC games. But i like a cold Struthers games not a Warm Fuzzy Struthers Campbell Game.

The only team that can come close to taking Campbell's place in week 10 is Poland. I really don't see them moving the Poland-Canfield game. My guess would be either Hubbard, Niles, or Howland.
