Good job se-alum! And keep a good eye on this thread. The n00bs will be a major problem as they either have some kind of axe to grind with nasty comments and/or ask for info that has already been posted.

Anyhow, BRF is familiar with the Avon Lake stadium as my mother lives just a stones throw south of the stadium on 83 (the main drag). After tailgating with her son, I think she just might make an appearance to see her two grand-daughters cheer the Riders on to victory! ;-)

The Comet fans might have a little more mileage to get to the game than us, BUT they get to take the turnpike and chew up the miles. There is really no good way to get to Avon Lake from Orrville. BRF's best time is one hour and ten. I don't go the mapquest ways. Many would go up 83, but that is long and tedious. I will have to agree with Obi-Wan-Haus, in that the traffic will be pretty heavy within a mile of the stadium.

I will post my directions in a little bit, if anyone is interested.

I have only ever sat in the home section, as my nephew played on the Avon Lake D-II State Championship team from oh, maybe 2004....not quite sure on the date. The visitor's side didn't look as big as Medina's. I would say that parking is "tight" and that you should count on at least an hour and a half to get into the game by kick-off.

This is going to be an exciting re-match. The "Thrilla By The Lake"!

According to OHSAA website this game is officially at Avon Lake.

BRF it's a new stadium this year, so seating won't be as you remember. Look's real nice and would look good in Orrville.

I thought there were no noisemakers at playoff games...and it's not just an Orrville rule. I have been to quite a few games where the ticket takers tell people they cant bring their air horns or milk jugs in. What is the official ruling, who knows....lol

Genoa fans should be mighty proud of this run the past few years......schedule weak or not they have been cranking some good football out up there. last year I was really upset with their disrespect and actions on the field. I have much more respect for them going in this year and am looking forward to a great game between 2 football towns!

Genoa to Avon Lake: 81.71 miles
Orrville to Avon Lake: 54.8 miles

Better than last year...
Genoa to Ashland: 84.17
Orrville to Ashland: 34.54

I'd always like to learn how they decide where to play neutral fields. It's often not all too neutral, and although we were guessing Huron and Tiffin, no games will be played at either site this weekend. I'm guessing it was for seating capacity, as Avon Lake holds approx. 5300. Tiffin is 4500 and overflowing last week. Huron holds 4000.

Either way I'm excited to go see Avon Lake's new facility. That is one thing I enjoy about the playoffs. Among some great football being played, I also get the opportunity to check out the top facilities from around Ohio.

OK............here we go.............pencils and papers ready?

57 up to River Styx and take the River Styx veer off on the right and go to 18.

Take a right and get onto 71. (north, that is.......swimming pools, movie stars.................ha ha!)

Take the I-80 Ohio Turnpike exit and head west. (take your ticket and get two quarters ready).

You will be on the Pike for 10 miles. Take the first exit which is Lorain Road (Route 10). Pay your 50 cents. Then proceed to Lorain Rd. Route 10 East straight ahead after you make your donation...........don't veer to the right!

Go up Lorain a couple of miles past the Sheetz and look for a traffic light to turn left on Barton.

Go a hop and a skip to the 4-way stop and a right on Bradley. Take Bradley all the way, about 7 miles at 35 mph (or faster according to the driver) to Walker.* Take a left at Walker (you can't turn right) and go about 3 miles to Route 83 (you can't miss it, huge intersection) and take a right. You are now about 2 miles from the Stadium which will be on your right, ya can't miss it.

*A smart way to beat traffic might be to NOT turn left on Walker, but go all the way to Lake (which is not too far), turn left (because if you don't, you will get wet), and head down to 83 and take a left. You will see the stadium lights as you approach from this way.

If you can follow all of this.........you get an A+..........it is the God's honest truth of the best way to get there (and don't forget your two quarters for the joyous trip home!).

Air Horns/Noisemaker Prohibited
Air horns are not permitted in the stadium. Noisemakers that require electric or power of other sorts are prohibited.
As far as an impact player for Orrville. Keep an eye on Lincoln Bollinger. He's a stud. Makes plays all over the field.

As far as how to get there...83 all the way up would take forever. I'd consider taking River Styx to 71 North to 90 West to 83 North. You're running into rush hour, but it could be just as bad taking 83 all the way up.

Genoa people. Will it probably be best to take the turn pike or is Rt 2 worth the extra 10 mins? (according to mapquest).

your comment about fields not being very neutral told me you were trying to make a point.

I noticed that neither Huron or Tiffin are hosting, too. Odd. Maybe each school had a conflicting event on Friday night (play, banquet, etc).

They are not air horns. They are horns made out of PVC pipe that the person blows into. Still not sure how it works but there are quite a few people that have them. I think they are homemade but I am not sure. As far as the car horns go that is not true. There was a guy that had a truck horn mounted to a box that I saw during the season but I have not seen or heard it during the playoffs.

I was trying to support my point that capacity was a factor in that they chose Avon Lake. Neutrality was a minor detail. I'm assuming that OHSAA was not confident that Huron or Tiffin would comfortably hold the fans that will be attending this game. They are rightfully expecting huge numbers.

Orrville will bring a nice contingent, but I dont see us bringing more than 1500. That would do well to fill the visitor side. It will be packed, but wont be overflow.

Our playoff games used to take us no farther than 45 mins away...no 45 minutes is considered close.
