This comes straight from Genoa's 09 seniors. This year's team has half the talent, but twice the the focus which is a whole lot more dangerous. If you're expecting last year's team or to be overlooked, expect to be suprised.
Woosters team felt the same way. Orrville came in and punched us right in the mouth in the first 2 minutes. then jabbed and jabbed... throwing right crosses just before half.

Good luck Genoa, these Orrville kids will hit you and hit you hard. If you can take the physical pounding, should be a good game..

Just a little note:

Under Coach Davault who is in his 5th year now, we are 6-2 in the playoffs, with 3 Regional final appearances!

The first two Regional Final games we have been the away team, and have lost to 2 really good teams....but maybe, just maybe this is the year we get over that hump as the home team in the regional final!

Hopefully the Comets can stop the bubble screen this year. That play gave me nightmares and I didn't even play! Honestly though our defensive backfield seems much improved but are they ready for a true Spread team? That's the question that will decide the game

I wouldn't call us a true "spread" team this year....

We have lined up in the "I" formation a lot this year with a tight end.

Like I said earlier;

we are more balanced than last years team.
we are faster than last years team.
we have more weapons than last years team.
we are more physical than last years team.

I just wanted to take a minute and Congratulate once again the Clearfork Colts for winningthe OCC - And bragging at the Orrville fans as they were exiting our stadium - Enjoy that title as we have our eyes on the bigger prize!!! The playoffs are a different story Colts and all that arrogance got you nowhere! Enjoy your time at home next Friday

well not all genoa fans run thier mouth and talk crap so as i remember it the orrville fans were the ones chanting overrated and thing of that such nature so any how lets talk football

I think if genoa will come up and play press instead of giving a 10 yard cushin to the WRs we have a good shot at the game if not we will be in a shootout and it will come down to who will have the ball last o and not miss an extra point so hope your kicking game is good orrville!

Well, last year was last year and this year is this year. Genoa didn't know about us and we didn't know about Genoa. It's turned into a mini rivalry. I think most fans with any sense know both teams are well coached and fan supported. It'll be a good game with both teams trying to impose their will upon the other. There are some sensible fans on both sides and hopefully it will be a civil discussion. My personal opinion is that Genoa should be favored due to there impressive wins over the higher seeded teams, but it will be a match up of individual styles so you can throw out comparing scores. Hopefully the Riders will prevail , but it will be decided on the field.

Well said. The vast majority of players and fans from both schools are sensible, well behaved, and justifiably proud of their school, community, and successful football program. Unfortunately, like so many things nowadays, the fanatic loud-mouths on either side tend to drown out most of the rational discussion.

Personally, I'd like to think Genoa would have an edge in this one based solely on Clear Fork scores, BUT - Orville vs CF was what? 4-6 weeks ago? A lot can change in that much time. Orville's ability to spread things out makes me a little nervous, I'm still not comfortable with how well our defensive ends can contain and our pass defense, while improving, could be a weak spot. The other thing that I think will have a huge impact on this game is the emotion - could be either a positive or negaitve for Genoa. It will be very interesting to see how the coaching staff channels all that energy. All that being said, this Genoa team has really surprised me these last two weeks. They have shown a lot of improvement and seem to be peaking just at the right time. Should be a great game!

Sarcasm from cc , but Genoa lost a good back last year, but seems to have found a soph. to replace him. We seem to do well against the run, but CF made us doubters. Our QB is the X factor in that if he plays well we have the ability to attack in multiple modes and are hard to defend, but if our defense has to stay on the field too, long were too, tired to be effective because we have to many people playing both ways.

haha this made me laugh! If you plan on pressing our receivers you better have someone doubling up over top because Turner and Brenner WILL get behind you.......their is no doubting that, they have done it for 12 weeks now consistently....Our QB is the x-factor as flash said, if he is on his game not many people can defend our passing attack...if he's struggling it could be a long night. He's either right on the money or not even close.

Our running game I think will have a lot to do with the outcome as well, if we can control the clock and have long drives (like that epic 18 play, 90 yard, 9 minute drive) we will be in good shape.

I am not too worried about our defense, just hope we wrap up and gang tackle.

Turner and Simpson can handle their receivers man up, with Brenner as the safety over top to help with run or pass. That leaves 8 men to put in the box to stop their running game....I like our odds with that!

Going on last year, they will probably try to run away from Monaham/Perman :D (sorry just made me laugh at Rizzo on fox 8 trying to pronounce our kids names) , cause they kept making an audible at the line to run the ball away from Hoobler....we will need all our defenders ready!

Also watch that student body left, student body right play they love to run with the QB lead blocking! :D

IMO Genoa's D-line will determine how well the Comet D can hold Orrville's offense. Genoa's front 5 had a hard time getting to Orrville's QB last season and the loss of DE Lester in the 1st half didn't help. That lead to a lot of LB blitzing, just to create pressure, and on a few occasions Orrville would let Genoa's blitz overpursue and throw a middle screen for a huge gain. If this years front 4 or 5 can get to Orrville's QB it will help out Genoa's young secondary tremendously.
