Clear Forks offense didnt do their defense any favors by scoring quickly.......Those boys were gassed in the fourth......

My thoughts:

1) McCune (#33) for Clear Fork and Nutter (#34) for Genoa are both studs! I'd take either of them on my team any day! Both were good for 4-5 a pop tonight.

2) The pass interference on Clear Fork with 5 seconds left in the 2nd quarter was huge, which gave Genoa the first down and put them in field goal range. That field goal changed the whole complexion of the game, going into halftime up 25-22. On the last drive for Clear Fork in the 4th quarter, it would have been a 6-point game instead of 9 points. BIG difference as the clock ran down and CF had 1st and goal.

3) Clear Fork couldn't defend the pass. Or Genoa was very, very efficient in the passing game tonight. Or both. Everyone said how Clear Fork could throw if and when they had to. Well, if that's true, then Genoa could run the spread as their base offense! From what I saw, their QB, TE/WR, and their RB's all were in sync in their play action passing game. The QB was very accurate, and the passing game as a whole was crisp.

4) Both sides played a great game! Both teams would have been a forced to be reckoned with the next week or more. But Genoa made all the key plays, had a big 4th quarter drive to extend the lead again, and kept putting the pressure back on Clear Fork.

5) Clear Fork's kicking game didn't hurt them as much as Genoa's kicking game helped them. HUGE field goal.

6) Congratulations to Clear Fork on a great season! You all have had great careers, from what I've seen and read. Great job! I hope to see you when I'm at the state baseball tournament again in the Spring.

7) Genoa, just like last year, is the real deal. People give them crap all the time about their schedule, but they came to the field tonight to take care of business; and they did just that. Orrville better not expect another double-digit lead like they got last year, or else they have another thing coming. It should be a GREAT game!

Good luck to Genoa, but I'll be rooting for Orrville.

^^^^ FINALLY a relevant and thoughtful post! Agree with all of this! One more thing to note was Seth Dufendocks performance tonight was OUTSTANDING!!! Lead blocker a great deal of the time, hard hitter (only one that could wrap up McCune on his own even some of the time), and a bunch of great catches! Thought his performance deserved recognition tonight!

This was just about as good as it gets tonight. Two well coached temas, very few penalties, very few mistakes. Nice big enthusastic crowds for both schools. Both temas gather together for post-game prayer. High School football at it's best.

It was a fun game to watch. It came down to a few key plays/mistakes. Genoa answered every CF score. I was impressed by how well they mixed in the passing game. CF just could not turn the tide and take the lead to put some pressure on Genoa. Good luck next week.

Orrville never expects anything but to show up and play PIT....get over your hatred for us. We knew we had a battle on our hands last year. it was Genoa who was surprised. They won't be this year!

First and foremost, I have to commend Clear Fork. Great team, even better fans. I was walking out of the staduim with Clear Fork fans and they could only praise Genoa for, in their words, "Daring us to stop their run and we couldn't do it." They were very insightful and had no ill words for either side. I also noticed a lot of CF players helping up Genoa players, and vise versa, during the game and they all got down to pray together at the 50 after the game. Very classy football played tonight. As far as what I saw, McCune is a workhorse! I want to see his final stats. He could barely walk towards the end of the game, he was so tired, and was still getting 5 yards a carry. #52(Oyster? Royster? I'm not sure) was a beast at LB. He had a ton of tackles. CF has quite the fan base too. They filled up that entire home side of what I assume was 3000. They even had some on the hill next to their side.

Nutter had a great game, only ran harder as the game went on, and oh yeah, he's only a sophmore. Genoa as a whole played lights out tonight, and that's exactly what it took to beat this Clear Fork team. Dufendock had huge catches, hit hard all night, and was a big time leader out there. Everyone stepped up and it was one of the best games I've ever seen. This is coming straight from last year's seniors- thay have half the talent, but twice the focus, which is a whole lot more dangerous.

Can't wait to call off again next friday night to make the regional final!

Clear Fork was a class act. The players, the fans, everyone. It was a great game and they should be proud of what they did this season. Even your band was great. Genoa has been on the other side a few times before so we know your pain. I hope to see you next year in the playoffs. Congrats to the Comets and good luck next week, you are going to need it.

Both teams were scoring too much. 21 total pass attempts in the game(Genoa-15, CF-6). More than usual, but still not a lot.

haha yeah Orrville's two playoff games this year:

Orrville's D has had 97 passes thrown against them in the playoffs so far. Holding teams to 44% completion rate.

Reaser threw 52 passes tonight!

Clear Fork's McCune finished with 30 carries for 248 yards. That kid had a hell of a night.

Mccune 29 carrys for 245 yards 2 tds. That gave him 2205 yards and 32 tds on the year 8.5 YPC AVG

Mccune also just left the hospital with a concussion.

McCune is a beast! Hope everything heals quickly for him! It's been a pleasure watching him run the ball the past few years.

I'm just glad I graduated before I had to play him haha!

Yes, I had a concussion after the first scrimmage my senior year....bad headache but only lasted about a day then I was ok. Still didnt remember what happened til I watched the game film haha.

Genoa has surprised me on several different occasions this season. I love to see our NW teams do well but I just didn't think the Comets could get this win. Congratulations to the team and their coaches on a tremendous effort and good luck the rest of the way.
