BTW, while speaking about AMC... "The Killing" which is coming out in 2011 looks like another solid show to add to the schedule.

yeah, I am pumped for tonight's episode as well.
Side note...I hate that the only shows that I actually watch are all on Sunday nights...Dexter, Boardwalk Empire and Walking Dead.

This one was awesome as well. Desperation was really setting in. Also seeing some conflict starting to develop within the party.

Have been watching this show from the beginning (I know it has only been a few episodes) but I think AMC has another hit. This show is getting great reviews and has a very intriguing plot line.

I felt last week like things were getting a bit slow and the plot a bit scattershot, then WHAM! they kill-off a good half-dozen of the people.
Interesting twist tonight. Kind of hoping the "salvation" at the end wouldn't be quite so bleak. Plus, seems like they really could have used the recently infected guy who hadn't turned yet. Wonder if they will go back to try and find him in the finale.
I know there's another season, but I can't see a very long life-span for the show. You can only run from and kill zombies for so long. Although it would be kind of a cool switch if they just one by one kill every one off - no happy ending just more pain and misery on top of pain and misery.
The red neck is really getting on my nerves. I get tired of seeing someone put a gun to his head 2 or 3 times an episode.

Starting to get pretty intense, wondering why the group didnt grab some of the 50 cals or see if some of the guns have some ammo?

Great episode. I thought the scene where the woman( cant remember her name) had to shoot her sister was awesome.
Looks like we might get some answers on how/where the virus originated next week

Just a minor nitpick...Considering how all these amateurs are crack shots and the zombies go down with one to the head, how does a presumably heavily fortified base get overrun? Unless they ran out of ammo, but then there would be A LOT more bodies. The cop said the CDC would be a "last stand" protected at all costs and that "war zone" was underwhelming to say the least. But would seem like maybe they tried to contain it in the city (and elsewhere) and probably were so quickly overrun that they never had time to fall back to such a fail safe. The cop and the man from the first show decided to head to ATL where there was supposed to be a stronghold, and obviously that never materialized.
Seriously, a couple of good snipers on secure roof tops with plenty of ammo could probably take out 500 each per day.
Anyway, as far as "suspension of disbelief" goes, this isn't too bad. My guess is the virus, whatever the source, spread so quickly that the military wasn't able to organize quick enough. Then again, the hospital with that room marked "don't open" or whatever would suggest this took at least a few days, so there should have been adequate time to respond. Unless it was such pandemonium that most troops didn't respond choosing to stay and protect their families.
If they're able to hole up in the CDC for a while, they could get some mileage out of this series with the people running "missions" to advance the medical research. Would be somewhat of a spin on "V" only with zombies instead of alieans. Maybe the virus will mutate and the zombies will become more aware and organized. Good show, but I say by the end of 13 episodes next season it will have run its course.

I'm bored, so a couple of more questions:
1) How is there only 1 guy left in the CDC?
2) Sure, things can spread quickly, but how does it do it quickly globally? There had to be some sort of airborne virus (or maybe mosquitoes and what not?) that had a dormant period. The survivors were immune to that but not from bites from zombies. One curious reaction from the doctor, I think in a preview for next week, is he freaks out that they might be infected. They know they haven't been bitten, but that suggests you can get infected another way and that would have to be the case for a fast spreading global outbreak.

If it was the entire world I really doubt that much could be done about it.
And the cop was merely speculating that the CDC would be a "last stand" he didn't really know.
As for them being crack shots, the zombies don't really move much so it would be fairly easy to get a shot off and also the show wouldn't be any good if it was just them shooting and missing for the entire show.

LMAO! point taken.
Preview next week has the scientist saying the French held out the longest (which makes sense because running away from slow moving zombies seems to be the most effective means of survival).
I had a "awww, C'MON!!!" moment when the zombies attacked the camp a few weeks ago how Amy and the wife beater just stood there frozen while the zombies slowly matriculated toward them and slowly took a bite. "Fight or flight" instinct and you stand there and just take it? The zombies had time to dip them in butter and add a little salt.
I wonder if anything more comes of the helicopter the cop saw in Ep. 1 or 2.

I wonder if the black guy and son ever show up. Also, why not go to the gang's nursing home and help strive there, it seemed like they had a strong fortress.

The CDC and even the rumored military base were better bets. Besides, food is or will be an issue. The gang probably would not want to take in more people - they're only able to grow so much food and not sure what they do for water.
If you think about it, it's an interesting dilemma. More people improves the odds for survival, but only to the point where you have enough people to fully utilize resources otherwise underemployed people are just another mouth to feed. Same thing with civilizations - the bigger your military the more food the citizens have to be able to grow to feed the machine, or you go out and take it by force.

I get what you're saying. What they need to find is a Kroger, kind of like they did on 28 Days Later.

Just watched last nights episode...AMAZING. Best of the year. I still have to watch last nights though. But the ending to last weeks had me on the edge of my seat for the whole scene. What a surprise attack that turned out to be, then the last line about the "dream" was perfect.

I agree with someone else that said they will either regret leaving that guy behind, or they will go and try to find him.
Also, what ever happened to Merle I wonder?

I wonder if he will come back as a zombie? while he was alone in the whinabego he kept having like "visions" of a zombie who sort of looked like himself, maybe the gang will have issues with killing him, also, i think them not burning the bodies will come back to haunt them eventuallybigkahuna;581604 wrote:I agree with someone else that said they will either regret leaving that guy behind, or they will go and try to find him.

When they got to the CDC I saw vehicles like Hummers and transport trucks, there has to be gas in some of them the army wouldnt cruise around on E. what they need to do is grab some 50 cals and other guns and ammo and just cruise around killing zombies blasting Andrew WK's Ready to Die.

Well, a shot to the head kills zombies and they bashed in the brains of all their dead. Not sure how they can come back "to haunt" them unless the virus mutates. Even then, they're miles away I don't see how those people can "realistically" come back into the picture.
The scientist made a comment when the lab got "disinfected" that hope was lost and those were the freshest samples he had. That indicates you can't just go out and wax a zombie and get good samples for research. Would seem to indicate he needs a recently changed zombie or perhaps even someone who is infected but not yet changed. That's why I think that guy they left behind becomes important.

In the previews for next week, it shows the scientist injecting something into Andrea. Does he intentionally infect her? Also, do you think the scienist got infected? That stuff burned through a couple layers of gloves.
