Im so sick and tired of seeing on t.v., news papers, sales adds, "holiday sale, holiday lights, holiday tree, holiday concert"................etc. I thought this would slow down after Thanksgiving but it hasnt. Is it so hard, or against the law to say the word Christmas anymore? If you dont like the word Christmas.....then quit buying presents and decorating for it. If you are offended by the word Christmas, then I feel sorry for ya. Every holiday has a meaning to it, and Christmas is ONLY here because of Jesus' birth. If you say happy holidays to me in a store, I will say Merry Christmas to you. Bash me if you want, but in the past five years this country has made me sick over a small percentage of people who dont like something.
end rant/

here's my take:
it's the holiday season because different religions have different holidays. however, i hate how networks say "happy holidays" when we all know that the there is a high majority chance they want to say "merry christmas"

I would prefer the usage of "Merry Christmas". But I do not have a problem with "holiday".
Especially because the etymology of "holiday" isn't like it is taking away from anything.

I think it would take dramatically less time for me to get tired of people flipping out over the substitution of "holiday" for "Christmas" than it would for me to get tired of the use of "holiday".
I don't care about the religious aspect of Christmas. I don't care what the day's called. I don't care what you call the day.

I'm more sick and tired of the "attack on Christmas" complaints to be honest.

No one is stopping you from saying Merry Chistmas. What someone else says in their home is their right and their business.

haha I know, it's just he was like this on the old huddle. Always complaining because his religion wasn't being the center point of everyone's life. Who honestly cares if the media and people say holidays.

Same here. When I hear "Happy Holidays", I don't assume they are referring to Christmas only.

We don't really know...but there is a reason why Christmas is set-up on the day it is.
Just because the actual day isn't known by us, doesn't mean that Jesus' birth cannot be celebrated.
