I do think it's overreacting to want to change things up and do them just like the other schools when the system in place has been working so well all the other years that Tressel has been there. Do the current coaches have the same special teams responsibilities they've had before, or is there someone new in there who is not getting the job done.

I would think a HC who likes to say "the punt is the most important paly in football..." would know having a designated ST coach would help in evaluating, strategizing and making adjustments. If I'm the DB Coach in charge of KOs and one of my starting DBs is feeling a little gimpy or sore, I'm thinking why do I want this kid in there on a KO? And then you stick a kid like Storm Klein in there who gets blown up in the middle of the wedge.

In the words of Big Julius Campbell (Remember the Titans) "attitude reflects leadership". Either the coaches or the captains need to get this shitshow on track.

I'm curious how many other FBS teams have given up 4 touchdowns via kickoff/punt returns so far this season...anyone know?

I looked at ESPN and they only keep stats for TD's scored, not given up. I bet if anyone has given up close to 4 TD's on special teams their record is not very good.

They have only given up three kickoff/punt return TD's. The fourth special teams TD was on a blocked field goal.

A special teams Touchdown is a special teams touchdown, I don't care how it was scored..... It needs to stop!!!

I've noticed several teams talk about their "special teams coordinator", not a specific special teams coach...do we have one of these??

Correct, and as stated before, it's been this way the whole time Tressel has been at OSU and the special teams have been excellent up until now. Clearly it's not the way it's being coached but the execution. Also, if you look at the kickoff team (and Tressel talked about this a bit during his press conference yesterday) there are more freshman and walk-ons than normal on special teams this year, and part of that is because there have been so many injuries to the defensive secondary, so they don't want to put the backups on the field for special teams when they are already thin in that area.
