I take care of it. But taking care of it does not = changing the oil yourself.

I'm assuming PB=Polar Bear, if not, my bad.

There are probably people on this forum with horror stories about every kind of service does that mean we shouldn't use them? Not at all, but we should try to pick ones that we believe are quality.

For me it's a little bit easier in regards to car service as I have family who are mechanics and who have been for a very long time so they can either help with things or recommend people who (I probably know) are reputable.

My family was in the car business for over 30 years. I will t ell you that places like Firestone are the worst places to go. Find a true mechanic shop that you trust and pay the extra 5 bucks so stuff like this doesnt happen.

Justin is also very adept at buttering his own corn.....

He would butter Nicks as well if given the chance.

Do you depend on the company you work for to provide you with a paycheck? That's pretty illogical of you. You should always work for yourself and own your own company.

Or just let someone else do it b/c it's more convenient.
Pick6;519809 wrote:and more expensive

No..it's not. The place I take my vehicles to has a deal every Wednesday. For ladies, an oil change is $13.99. I just take the wife with me.
Pick6;519826 wrote:Walmart's brand and any of their oil filters(not fram) are just as good and cheaper than Penzoil, Mobile 1, whatever
False. If you don't think there is a difference from brand to brand, you are sadly mistaken.
Pick6;519826 wrote:Im going to guess you are one of them who changes their oil every 3000 miles too just because the mechanic says so?
Yes, I am one of the ones that change my oil every 3,000 miles. Is it because my mechanic says so? No. It's because my warranty says so.

That's why you stand in the garage and watch every single move they make. It's not hard. Most places will let you in the garage to watch them. If they refuse, you go elsewhere.

Well scince I've contracted myself to my former employer since I've started my current job, I guess I don't depend on my employer to provide me with a paycheck. I'd be fine if they told me to leave today.

So you do depend on them for a paycheck? I'd be fine too if my local oil change business no longer offered there service, because someone else will.

It's not getting ripped off if you think it's a fair price.

Getting ripped off is when they deceive you or don't tell you the actual costs involved so as to charge you more. But we all know how much oil costs and think that $18-$25 is a fair price to pay for the oil, filter, and labor of a change.

No, they depend on me to cover their clients they cant get to. For someone who tries his damnedest to pretend he's smarter than everyone else, you sure struggle with simple comprehension issues. Keep trying tho.

Hi, I'm Pick6 and I am not lazy. I save money and don't get ripped off. The secret is simple, do NOT pay for any services. You should only do a job yourself because DIY rocks!

Examples:

I bought 40 acres of woods. I chiseled some flint rock to create an axe. I cut down trees (for my log cabin, for firewood, etc) From there, I built a canoe. I took the canoe to the river and used the tree leaves and miscellaneous supplies I found free on craiglist to fish.

Upon fishing, I use my techniques from watching survivor man to create fire. I made some fish.

I didn't like just eating fish and nuts, so I bought a cow by selling firewood. I fattened up the cow and butchered him with my flint axe. I took the meat and made me some great hamburgers.

Then, i went to a junk yard and bought some car parts. I actually created my own car.

After I drove my rebuilt car for 5,000 miles I knew it was about time to change my oil.

However, without any oil on my property, I found this very hard.

I then went to walmart and bought 5 quarts plus an oil filter for $16.99

So any of you mofos who think you don't save money on oil changes by doing it yourself are crazy.. obviously your 19.99 specials can EASILY be solved by changing your OWN oil.

I simply listed the other things to show that I am not a hypocrite when I call people lazy for not changing their oil themselves. You see, if I did other types of services I would by a booger-eating hypocrite, who tells people what to do but that I do not also do in other walks of life.

I'm out..

Hmmm, it's impossible to get ripped off at Ford then. I know they use Motorcraft, which is what I prefer to put in my Fusion.
