Week #8 Friday, October 15th, 7:00pm

6-1 Massillon will return to the field after a big win over the previous Division III #1 team in Ohio, the Steubenville Big Red to face the 5-2 Warren G. Harding Raiders, who will return to the field following a loss to Mentor, a team that Massillon defeated earlier in the year.

Massillon leads the all-time series that began in 1921, 49-22-3.
Massillon also leads the series between these two former All American Conference rivals during the 'Playoff Era' 15-10-2.
In 13 games at Mollenkopf Stadium during the 'Playoff Era' Massillon is 4-7-2.

Massillon and Warren played regularly from 1921 until 1989, in 1988 Massillon traveled to Mollenkopf Stadium for a game with the Panthers (Warren was Known as the Panthers until the consolidation with WWR in 1990), 12 penalties and 149 yards later, Lee Owens, (Massillons coach at the time) said, "It's not fair to our kids to have happen what happened here tonight, as long as I'm the Head Coach here, we'll never schedule them again". Owens was refering to a Massillon running back falling a yard into the endzone, but the officials spotting the ball at the one. "I've never complained to a newspaper about officiating", Owens said, "but I have to say something tonight, I've never seen anything like this since I've been coaching." "If beating Massillon is so important, that circumstances like this are created, I can't accept that." Massillon lost that game 22-25. A year later, in the final game of the contract, (yes Dover fan, some people do honor contracts), Massillon punished Warren 54-2. Massillon and Warren did not play again until Rick Shepas and Thom McDaniels worked out a deal to renew the rivalry in 2002.

Since renewing the rivalry, Massillon and Warren are 4-4, both going 3-1 at their respective homes. A 21-20 overtime victory by Warren in the 2002 State Semi-Finals gives Warren a 5-4 edge. I must add, I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I've never been to a game at Warren when I haven't felt like I was going to have to fight my way out of the stadium....I love that kind of atmosphere. Go Tigers Beat Warren.

This is my favorite road trip, granted I can't stand losing up there and we've had limited success. The atmosphere at Mollenkopf is electric when Warren is rolling. People can say they only beat cupcakes but 5-2 is 5-2. The only problem I see with this Massillon team is we could get slowed down by bad weather due to the strength of the team being the passing game. If Alex Winters and Jake Reiman return at tailback look for a three headed monster to develop with the emergence of sophomore Kentrell Taylor. With Winters' speed, Reimans' toughness and Taylors' size, Coach Hall will continue to develop a running attack that will lead the Tigers on a deep playoff run.

I'll take Massillon. The Tigers might blow Harding out.

Massillon started the season poorly with a loss and a near loss, but they are the most improved team in the state. I'll take the Tigers in this matchup.

Harding is not the greatest team out there, but I think they open some eyes and get a big home win at Mollenkopf.

Serious question here; has any one ever called him, Kentrell "The Tractor Trailer" Taylor?

Not that I've ever heard, the coaches and kids call him Trelly.
