Seriously though I'm not talking about every single fan. Obviously there are bozos for every team.

But overall the more passionate and interested you are, the more you'll seek out usually.

The Steelers have won a lot on Sundays so more fans probably watch the rest of the games rather than being bummed out. Late in the season when teams are battling for the playoffs, the fans are watching more.

Just because somebody may have played basketball in high school doesn't mean they are that knowledgeable about the NBA. A lot of the Cavs bandwagonners the past few years probably did become pretty knowledgeable because they overloaded themselves with the NBA. Watching night after night. Hanging on every story about LeBron and so forth.

Couldn't disagree more. I think you find less knowledgeable fans as a whole when looking at the more popular fan bases. I think a lot of Red Sox/Yankees fans don't think baseball exists outside of their rivalry. Duke and North Carolina fans probably don't think college basketball exists out of the ACC until the NCAA tournament. Its easy to be an NFL fan and be knowledgeable regardless of the team you support. Mainly because if you play fantasy football, you have to stay up on what the entire league is doing.

Yes, your team has had quite a bit of success but the Steeler fanbase, for the most part is a bunch of one of the LEAST knowledgeable bandwagon groups around. There are a few on this site who know their shit but if you run into the layman "fan" on the street they MIGHT know a few names of some of the players. They lose two in a row and you're looking for their "fans" faces on a milk carton.

You want "lack of knowledge?" Look no farther than your Mr Capone.

You want to come on OUR thread and piss on it? You WANT A war, mother fucker? It' ON!!! I'd swear to God by the shit that you're posting that Capone stole your password. Your threads are NOW "fair game" for ANY and ALL trolling, IMO.

It would seem to me that the more successful a team is the more bandwagon (and fair weather) fans it will gain. You're telling me these people that don't watch the game unless the team is doing well know more about it than fans who watch week in and week out no matter the outcome?

I went looking through the one steelers thread on the first page, I dont see any Browns trolling your threads. Yet in the Browns threads I see trolling by 3 steelers "fans". Sounds about right. The Browns threads are where steelers fan come to talk about football. I'm glad you idiot steeler "fans" are all worried about the Browns and whose e-fandom meter is bigger. Nice fail fucking losers.

Exactly. The posts by Non seemed EXTREMELY out of character for him but he jumps on here starting shit? I could see that from an asshole like Capone but it's kind of surprising from Non.

Either way, don't care at this point. Let the TROLLING on the threads of the inbred, toothless, banjo/"warshboard" playing, sister/momma/grandma/large farm animal fucking, moonshine drinking, Steeler "fans" thread BEGIN!!!

Yeah, its surprising when you conisder how much more they know about the game of football than us. I cant believe they would stoop down to our level.

I guess some people really have nothing better to do with their time.....pretty sad

Steelers fans have had more reason to watch week after week, year after year. At least for a stretch of about 18 years. Where as some Browns fans left when the team moved. Some have trickled back once in awhile at some sign of hope. Some go to the games as something to do/get drunk.

There are a lot of different people so it's not true for every single person but when you're considering which fans are the best it's an overall look at different categories.

Maybe this is just my original thought but let it sink in because it's true.

Probably a bad example considering most of the NE Ohio Steelers "fans" I've run into are tobacco stained teeth looking drunk meth heads that are probably Welfare recipients. No fanbase looks as uneducated/trashy as the Steeler fanbase. Could have something to do with the proximity (close to W. Virginia)?

Doesn't really matter about the "win or lose" aspect. When the Browns are losing, we're still here. When the Steelers have a slow run the jerseys, hats, urine stained towels, etc disappear. You may see them on the diehards but for many, the "fandom" disappears until they start winning again and then they are a "lifetime fan".

Sorry but you still didn't respond to my comment. Teams with recent success have more bandwagon and fair weather fans. These "fans" probably don't know much about football. They like their team because they are winning and it's the cool thing to do. Are there going to be fans from every single team that are not knowlegable? Of course. But to say that one team's fans know more simply because they win might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

And Browns fans didn't leave when the team moved. That is idiotic.

For the Steelers a lot of those fans sit in the upper level but the Steelers fans that have had season tickets for awhile in the lower part of the stadium and throughout the country in a lot of different places are the more educated ones that have jobs where they moved elsewhere.

BR clearly is a Browns guru, I won't deny that. But the last few years there were more people jumping on the Cavs bandwagon and the Browns weren't worth as much time following. It's gone in spurts since they've returned.

When the team is having success, more fans watch the other games from the beginning of the year to the end, through the playoffs. A lot of Browns fans are turned off from the NFL when the playoffs come around. Fans of successful teams get drawn into it a lot more. The same thing happened with the Cavs the past couple years.

Red Sox fans overall have a lot of fans that eat, sleep and drink baseball. Same as your Kentucky basketball fans. Steelers fans.

You're right there are a lot of bandwagon fans but there are still just a lot of fans who have been loyal supporters and they're just fans of a traditionally strong team.

The Columbus Blue Jackets fan base overall is pretty ignorant when it comes to hockey compared to say Detroit or Pittsburgh or Toronto, Montreal places like that.

I won't deny the part about Steelers fans moving to various parts of the country. When the steel business died down I'm sure they had to move on to find work and such.

I think the problem that you pointed out about the Browns had a bit to do with the move. You had a younger base of fans, that I will not deny, bandwagoned onto that 90's Tribe run and some of them looked for a football team to root for. Pittsburgh was successful so a lot of NE Ohio fans bandwagoned onto the Steelers because they were winning. They likely would be Browns fans but the organization hasn't really given them anything to believe in. When times get good, like Lebron James, we DON'T WANT THEM BACK. The TRUE fans that were here prior to the move aren't going anywhere regardless of how bad they are. When they left I chose not to root for any team. I just casually watched football.

I'm talking about NE Ohio Steelers "fans." I have no knowledge of local fans in the Burgh. I'm sure they are hardcore and follow the team with a passion. It's these Youngstown and West of Y-Town "fans" that don't know shit about the Steelers. Hell, they are supposed to be "fans" and I know more about Pittsburgh's history, players, etc than they do. They just want to hoot, holler & wave their yellow towels because their "team" won.

Maybe its just me but arent most Browns fans also football fans in general? Just because the Browns may lose on Sunday afternoon doesnt mean I'm going to stop watching football for the day/week. I'm still going to tune into the Sunday and Monday night game. I watch the playoffs and the SB every year regardless of the teams. The idea that Browns fans dont know the game of football as well as Steeler fans because the Steelers have had more success is idiotic.

Just like there are Browns fans who have been loyal supporters. Sorry but your argument still sucks. Literally every Browns fan I know watches every single game from start to finish. They also watch all of the other televised games. Some because of fantasy football and some because they just love the game. And Browns fans don't watch the playoffs because our team isn't in it? Dumb. I bet the ratings for the playoffs and the Superbowl are so high because the teams playing have a billion fans. They have to be the only ones watching.

Browns fans didn't leave when the team moved?

There were hundreds of people just that I knew that were turned off and even when the team came back they didn't want to follow the new Browns.

There were Browns fans would didn't return after they came back in 1999. As a matter of fact, there's a poster on here who defected from Browns to Steelers fan on here when they left. I don't remember his user name though.

That is somewhat true. Let's say you were a big NBA in the early 90s and stopped watching closely for the last 15 years. You're not going to be as knowledgeable about the NBA as somebody who has followed a lot the past few years even though it's still basketball. It's a little different for the NFL and football because it's a more popular sport but overall, yes, the Steelers success has meant more widespread interest in the game and more knowledge.

More interest yes. Knowledge no. Did you know it's possible to take an interest in the Cavs AND the Browns? And maybe even the Indians, too! Possibly not since your city has no NBA team. It has been done believe it or not.

Disagree completely. Besides you and a couple of Steelers fans on here (minus Capone, of course), the Steeler fan base isn't really very knowledgeable about football.
