Just read that. Too bad. I hate to see kids get hurt, especially season ending.

Why don't they play Sabino and just burn his red-shirt? Frankly I'm surprised they are red-shirting him anyways. I have not been overly impressed with Sweat so far.osu45804;485948 wrote:Andrew Sweat not likely to play this weekend. Jonathan Newsome will play instead. Sweat's injury not long-term

Sabino has all the physical tools but once again it looks like he doesn't have the mental capability like Sweat does.
I am going to trust Tressel on this one.

The "mental capability"? What does that even mean? He plays linebacker he isn't the quarterback
I don't think it was that clear to everyone that Smith was better than JZ. Zwick was a big time recruit and everyone (at least all the Buckeye fans) thought he was going to lead is to a national title. Troy was an afterthought and if I remember correctly he was the last played offered a scholarship in his class. Troy didn't really impress me until the Michigan game of his sophomore year and then he got in trouble and was suspended for the bowl game.trep14;487010 wrote:There are some guys that just can't seem to get out of Tressel's dog house despite being clearly more talented than other guys that are out there. As for Zwick vs Smith, yes Smith eventually won the job long term but Tressel tried to give Zwick every opportunity to succeed. Think about how long it took Smith to unseat Zwick in 2004, despite the fact that it was clear to anyone watching that Smith was the more talented QB.

Oh I know where my B10 Network channel is, but what I'm saying is that a different game than Ohio St vs OU is listed as being shown on my guide.karen lotz;487005 wrote:http://www.bigtennetwork.com/dpp/about_us/ChannelFinder
Enter your zip and then select your cable provider from the drop down menu, it will show you all games.
Perhaps you never played football? If you did, you sure the hell didn't play linebacker!jordo212000;486512 wrote: The "mental capability"? What does that even mean? He plays linebacker he isn't the quarterback

Troy was suspended for screwing up bit time. Tress didn't just give him back his starting spot. He made him work for it.
Zwick was horrible in the Marshall game, but through two games Troy was 2 for 5 for 29 yards and 1 touchdown. He had also run 6 times for 7 yards. those are hardly solid numbers that would make me want to bench my superstar recruit.trep14;487075 wrote:Seriously, people were calling for Troy Smith to start after like the Marshall game after Zwick looked horrendous in that game and the season opener vs Cincy. It took like 6 games for Tressel to finally replace Zwick with Smith, who had looked solid in the backup role.
Maybe because he hadn't earned his spot back in practice? He was suspended and he lost his starting position. Zwick led us to a bowl win over Oklahoma State and a win over Miami. Why would you bench him after that? His sophomore year Troy completed 55% of his passes for 896 yards, 8 touchdowns and 3 pics. He also ran for 339 yards and 2 touchdowns. Those are hardly stats that guarantee you a starting spot.trep14;487075 wrote:Also, the thing about Troy having to earn his starting spot back is precisely the thing jordo was talking about. It seems certain guys have to do more to get on the field than others with Tressel. This is major college football we are talking about here. If Smith has sat out his suspension, he has already been punished. Why would he have to "earn" his spot back when Zwick didn't exactly look great while he was out? Everyone under the sun knew that Smith was going to be the starter for the rest of the season except for Tressel apparently. Why would he handicap himself in such a big game (unless he actually thought that Zwick would emerge as the starter for the rest of the season)? Why not just say Smith earned his spot back in practice instead, end of story?
