That's not a knock on Robinson. That's just how the award has worked recently.

No it doesn't

9-3 for the regular season (Heisman doesn't include bowl games).

And like I said, his team was #3 for most of the season and finished in the top 10. Meaning he was on a contender for the most part. If Michigan ends up being a solid top 10 team then I would say Robinson has a chance at the Heisman. But the Heisman will most likely not go to someone on a team outside of the top 10... look at the recent history of the reward.

I haven't read this whole read, so this may have already been mentioned. Wasn't everyone chest thumping about Tate Forcier and giving him the heisman around this time last year? Then they played a few teams with decent defenses that can contain the only good offensive player on the team. Wait till they play some decent defenses before crowing his ass and giving yourselves the national title. Guarantee you he doesn't put up these numbers on Iowa or Ohio State, mind it he makes it that far without getting injured.

For what it's worth... they talked about Robinson vs. Pryor for the Heisman on PTI today. (and devil1187 instantly got butt hurt)

The Heisman Predictor thing ESPN does had Mallett #1 followed buy Robinson and Pryor tied at #2

That's interesting. Hmm. I have to admit I haven't heard a thing about Mallett yet this year. I'm sure his stats are out of this world, but I figured I would have heard something?

Wasn't Jevan Snead a Heisman "favorite" this time last year according to ESPN experts?

Also, didn't those same ESPN experts give Toby Gerhart more 1st place votes than Mark Ingram at the end of the season last year. (Which RB was on a top 10 contender and ended up winning the Heisman?)

My point still stands about Robinson not really being a favorite unless Michigan proves itself to be a top 10 team.

Agree to an extent. I don't think they have to be top 10, but they can't be 5-7. And, Robinson needs to continue the success he is having. Obviously the numbers will come down. If they don't, he might truly be Superman.

His numbers are ridiculous, but I don't see him winning it as long as the Buckeyes remain undefeated. The media wants to give it to Pryor this year, its too bad Pryor is focused on winning a National Championship rather than a meaningless award. After Troy Smith won it, the award has gone downhill, giving it to lousy garbage players like Tebow and Colt McCoy.

Colt McCoy won the Heisman? Was it an auction on eBay for Reggie Bush's Heisman?

If Robinson continues this success, then I don't think you have to worry about them being 5-7 ;)

ESPN has some formula for Heisman predictor and Robinson is tied with Pryor for second. They are trailing... Ryan Mallett?!?

Here's the list:

Player Team Points
Ryan Mallett Arkansas 96.5
Denard Robinson Michigan 95.5
Terrelle Pryor Ohio State 95.5
Andrew Luck Stanford 91.0
Kendall Hunter Oklahoma State 89.0
Daniel Thomas Kansas State 87.0
Trent Richardson Alabama 86.0
Jake Locker Washington 79.5
Kellen Moore Boise State 73.0
Case Keenum Houston 70.5

There are a variety of scoring categories that would make this post super long to copy and paste how they reached the conclusion they did. This is an example of what they do in regards to touchdowns for QB candidates:

QB: .5 points for each touchdown; 2.5 bonus points for reaching 40 TD, 7.5 points for 45 TD, 15 points for reaching 50 TD; for "system quarterbacks," bonus points are not awarded until reaching 60 touchdowns (5 points)

That would be interesting to see Robinson accepting the Heisman with Pryor and Mallet watching.
