I sent off an e-mail to the staff over there letting them know that using a crippled kid to try to save their failing business is reprehensible.

I almost threw up with I saw this thread and the message on the other board. Disgusting. This always gets me about businesses donating to charity--ever wonder where that money comes from? You and I.

I know of a radio station that raises money for a childrens hospital. After collecting $100,000 or so, they pat themselves on the back like they made the donation but that money comes from you and me. Makes them look like heroes though.

Better to make the donation directly yourself.

I think that is pretty good.
You see a lot of businesses do this type of thing, i.e. restaurants donating 10 percent of its sales on a particular night for a cause. This looks like the same type of thing. The restaurant I used to work at did this all the time.
I would imagine they would have had to have gotten the family's permission first also. So, if the family gave them their blessing I have no problem with it.
I think it is a P.R. move more than anything and it sounds like any little bit will help this young man and his family. .

I didn't realize until very recently that the owner of Bucknuts and the Puddle made his money in the payday loan business. Kind of explains the customer-friendly attitude and exemplary business ethics practiced over there.

Something not previously mentioned on here that needs to be pointed out...

Kory has a long road ahead of him....agreed

But apparently $2/subscription will only be donated until the end of December...

That's coincidentally most businesses fiscal year ending date. Any of you who think that this is ANYTHING but business driven are sorely mistaken.

This is ambulance chasing at it's pinnacle, and probably the most reprehensible way to follow up the worst business decision I have ever seen, I'll not be subscribing anytime soon.

I'm appalled.

Trust me, what the station puts into it comes no where close to 100,000 and very, very little comes out of the owners pocket and yet W*** takes credit for the amount in press releases, etc. So while yes, the money for the hospital is great, just remember where that money comes from--the listeners.

WOW they are creeps they put the thread from the bleacher seats up as a sticky so it stays up top closed it for comments. AND they deleted all but 2 posts which encourages other to subscribe. ALSO, Taking away the link that was posted to provide a direct donation with out subscribing.

SAD they cannot even allow the link to really help this kid stay on there.

It's pretty sad that a site would resort to using someone else's misfortunes for personal gain. The nazi stuff is one thing, but this is a whole other level of that shell of a site.

Thats when you know they are in it for the cash, they take the link away that allows you to donate without suscribing to their site?? What about those that did pay over there but want to donate more directly, now they might not know where to look, what a shame!

It's awful opportunistic of them to try to profit from someone else's unfortunate situation. I never seen anything about Kory on that forum prior to yesterday. I've actually seen it on another forum which you can't even type in the name over there.

Just this it's a low that they are using this situation as a subscription drive.

I have already donated, I kmow that link is there but why do they have to hide it at the bottom of an article that most people will not read all the way through. or will only see AFTER they fell for the gimic of signing up on the site.

I googled the kid, found the place to donate and gave $25, not a nickle of which goes to JJHuddle.com.
