There is a special place in hell for people that profit on the misfortunes of others. That said, I also try to see the best in people, so hopefully their heart is in the right place on this and it isn't a money-grabbing ploy. And I understand that is naive.

Their timeing on this is again, not good. They could have just posted threads asking for donations. Using this as a way to sign up members just does not sit well with me. But if it was not for this I would not have known about this kid. A check will be in the mail for this kid in the morning but not with JJ's name on it.

I have seen many very large and small companies say we will donate x amount of your purchase to x cause.

I think that it is more unfortunate for this young man and his family to be in this situation and for JJHuddle to want to do something good and have people overreact because their timing was off.

Tell this family their timing was off and they will certainly agree.

It is never good timing for an injury such as this young man has sustained.

And I have PMS, so, deal with it!!! :@:D

Maybe timing was not right for me to say. Like I said they could have just posted threads asking for donations and not conditioning it on joining their premium site. Many like myself would gladly help. They would have to sign up alot of members to get the amount I and many others will send this kid. I just want to help this kid out.

This is low. They are only offering the donation to try to get people to subscribe. It's not a goodwill gestu8re, it is to try to line their pockets. It is shameful.

wouldn't it just be better to give ALL TWELVE DOLLARS to the 'special cause' and ZERO to the morans at JJ Huddle?

That is the right thing to do... what a major bone head mistake by these fools now in control at a once great resource... If you have any financial stake in JJhuddle cash your chits/promises in they are toast!

I actually hope they DO log on and read this. If JJ really cared they would have had different amounts of donations where the full amount would go to the young man, and IF they wanted to draw people to the site they could have said for your donation you will get XXXX amount of months of full access.

I placed a note in mine mentioning that I felt this young man deserved more than the $2.00 that JJ huddle was wanted to give from me IF I would join thier site and that I hoped my donation was enough to make a difference and that when it was possible I would send more.

No one go there anymore for anything. Not even to "attack". Watch their traffic drop significantly when people from here stop going over there.

The issue isn't that JJ is graciously donating money to this kid's cause.... the issue is that they're using it as a marketing gimmick for people to give THEM more money.

I've always had an issue with this type of marketing. Same with the companies saying during October they'd donate x% to breast cancer research. Yeah, great, but why is it ONLY worth it to you during October to do it, and why only based on a percentage of sales that you're blatantly advertising.

A truly selfless act would be to donate a portion and never tell another soul that a) how much you donated and b) that you did it only because enough people paid you even more money.

Did you notice that yesterday they had an article about this young man's unfortunate injury with the information on how to donate directly? It was on there. They may not have used the proper marketing techniques, but, I am not the one to judge where their true motivation came from. Judging from the pay to post forums versus the "free forums." I believe that JJ Huddle is truly about HS Sports and the community of people that love high school sports and will support each other in their time of need.

If it was for personal gain, then what goes around comes around...

I am just sittng back and watching this all play out.
I'm not judging any parties.

I sent $100 to the Korey fund two weeks ago-- a friend's son's go to school with him. At the very least , this is pretty cheesy by Pay Pay.

Yes I did. They could have raised awareness of this young man's need in all the threads without tying it to the purchase of their product, instead they chose to do it by tying donations to signing up to their premium forums.

I have my own business. It is a great thing to be able to use my business as a platform for those in need. I find great joy in it when I am able to help those in need. I have never and will never tie that to the purchase of my product. Just my own personal business ethics.

That being said, my family and I will pray for this young man. I encourage those with the means to help this young man do so by donating directly to him. It is always more effecient to donate directly than have a third party handle the funds.

I'm all about helping people, but for JJ to attach it to the subscription service is just shady, imo.. I agree that if it helps this young man, then good, but to me it's just shady business ethics from JJ in terms of trying to USE his illness as a scapegoat to get more subscriptions themselves...

I think the whole idea is very unprofessional and shows the lack of class. It shows how desperate JJ has become.

I have NO objection to JJ Huddle announcing that they are making a donation, but to tie it to their obviously DESPERATE attempts to get people to pay-to-post lacks class and taste.

At least their business model is consistently STUPID.

Just another reason to stick with FREEHuddle.
