even if they did have radar, how would they argue it? its like the radar gun at a baseball game, all the proof of your speed goes away with the next car etc. there is no record of the speed recorded digitally or anything that they bring to court besides what they write on your ticket.

bullshit article is correct. haha that article misses the point even though they have it explained by the people they invterviewed. cops who have been on the job for years and have receieved speed training can estimate speeds pretty damn good. even most cops who use radar have to determine the speed of the car before they turn it on to get your exact speed. plus new cops, like stated in the article, wont use the "guessing" method. they can just drive behind you going the same speed you are to determine your speed if they wanted to(i believe this is the preferred method in California). no radar is used then either.

I got pulled for 47 in a 35 in BG, but the cop was tailing me with his brights on from when I turned onto the 35 road. I was going the speed limit until he drove right up to my bumper and started flashing his brights. It was dark enough that I couldn't see it was a cop, so my natural reaction was that I had no fucking clue what he was doing, figured he was drunk or being a menace, and I wanted as far away from him as possible. Soon as I pulled away, on went the red and blue lights. Had another passenger in the car as a witness, so I took it to court. I defended myself, asked the cop if there was another passenger in the car, what color his hair was, what color shirt he was wearing, etc. Cop had no clue. He denied that his brights were on or that he was following at an unsafe distance. My buddy testified that he was far too close, and that we both were scared shitless and couldn't tell that it was a cop behind us, and that neither of us could even see the road in front of us because of the brights in my mirrors. The cop's partner didn't show up to court that day. Judge threw out the ticket, but I don't know if the cop ever got in trouble. The judge did reprimand him, though.
