How is Golden's yards per catch lesser than Barnes? Here's an idea, let's get the Heisman to the player with the most overall yards, no matter how many attempts he has. Someone with 2200 yards on 40 more atempts than someone with 2150... Award goes to 2200... makes a lot of sense

You haven't posted one fact about ANYTHING; in fact, all you've talked about is how big of a homer you are and that everybody who disagrees with you is a "moron", just because we all aren't in love with Tate or Notre Dame. I hope your ignorance continues; just saw your post on the ND coach search thread. If you think Meyer or Stoops gives two shits in hell about Notre Dame, you have an even bigger ego than I thought. But keep thinking the sun shines out ND and their players asses, I'm sure you'll be thrilled when they win the Hawaii bowl over the WAC's #3 team again, and tell us about how awesome all your players are.
Ass whipe, you clearly made up that garbage about Moss, I never even mentioned Randy Moss any of my posts! I never contested any stats you posted, only the garbage you said I posted.........alphabet soup!
As for facts, there's only one that everyone on this forum can agree with, you're a clueless fool!

I was replying to another poster about Moss, Johnson, and several other receivers, and YOU HIJACKED THE THREAD, because you can't help yourself and your massive, "better than you because I like Notre Dame" ego, and you started talking about how only good players go to OSU or Notre Dame or similar schools. And I replied to your hijacking that Barnes, by YOUR LOGIC, should not win the award because he plays in the MAC, as did Moss, and so if it was Moss instead of Barnes, it wouldn't matter because good players don't play in that conference. But nice way to try and "misremember" dumbass. You're a total tool and homer, and you bring nothing to ANY of the threads, even the ones about Notre Dame, except trolling and belittling players you don't like and posters you don't agree with, and if anyone doesn't beleive me, you can go to the ND coaching thread right now and see more proof. Sorry tool, but everybody's figured you out. (BTW, have you noticed that since you started posting stuff to me, none of your fellow ND supporters have posted anything?? Even they think you're a hack!!) Get a clue dude.

^^^^^LMAO, I don't need any "fellow" ND supporters to fight my battles. Just for the record, the majority of the people on here completely disagree with you, just look at the poll or is that fiction too?
Show me where I said Barnes shouldn't win the award because he plays in the MAC? Nice try pal but you keep making things up and yet you say I bring nothing to the table..........LMAO, what a fool you are!
BTW, I didn't hijack a thing, you're the stupid ass who keeps going on and on about Barnes and former MAC players when clearly you don't have a clue about what your posting.

WINNER: Golden Tate, Junior, Notre Dame
1,496 receiving yards (1,682 total yards)
15 receiving touchdowns (18 total touchdowns)
16.1 average per catch
93 receptions
In Notre Dame's biggest games against Southern California, Pittsburgh, and Stanford, Golden Tate racked up 117, 113, and 201 receiving yards, respectively, to go along with seven touchdowns. Since nearly every Notre Dame game has gone down to the wire this season, Tate has been needed in crunch time and he has produced almost every time. His 1,496 receiving yards rank fourth, his 15 touchdowns rank second and his 93 receptions rank sixth. The kid is a stud and I'd be willing to match his highlights and game-breaking performances up against any other receiver in the country.
RUNNER-UP: Jordan Shipley, Senior, Texas
1,292 receiving yards (that is also his total yards)
11 receiving touchdowns (13 total touchdowns)
13.1 average per catch
99 receptions
Shipley has amassed nearly 1,300, which is admirable, and one could definitely argue since second-ranked Texas has been blowing teams out lately there hasn't been a need to keep Shipley in. In Texas' biggest game, against Oklahoma, which was down to the wire Shipley had a mere four receptions for 22 yards and no touchdowns. Against the only other ranked team Texas played all season, Oklahoma State, Shipley hauled in a pedestrian 64 yards on six receptions and once again no touchdowns. His 1,296 receiving yards rank sixth, his 11 touchdowns also rank sixth, and his 99 receptions rank fifth. Simply put, fewer yards and touchdowns on more receptions than Golden Tate.
THIRD PLACE: Freddie Barnes, Senior, Bowling Green
1,551 receiving yards (1,626 total yards)
16 receiving touchdowns (18 total touchdowns)
11.2 average per catch
138 receptions
Freddie Barnes is the token stat leader invited. His 1,551 receiving yards rank third, and 16 receiving touchdowns and 138 receptions both rank first in the FBS. Some people would think he is just a good receiver playing in a bad conference, and they'd be correct. In Bowling Green's games against good competition, Missouri and Boise State, Barnes recorded 70 and 24 yards. Ouch. Against Ohio and Central Michigan, which will be playing for the MAC championship, Barnes had 84 and 172 yards in those games. Very solid, make no mistake about it the kid is good. But how good? His 11.2 average insinuates he is a the product of the system. Despite having games against good competition and only have 94 receiving yards, he is still at the top of the nation in every statistical category....except his average per catch. Whereas the rest of his stats rank in the top three, his YPC ranks a lowly 281st, just shy of Michael Johnson from UNLV. Translation: his dismal performances against the good teams on his schedule were offset by terrific performances against crap teams.
Is he a stud receiver that almost broke various NCAA records, or a product of the (very good) system at BGSU? He's more than likely both, but he's not your Biletnikoff Award winner.

Barnes and the NFL? I'm not sold. He looks very tall in the video I posted, but in actuality he's just 6'0. To play in the NFL for longer than one's rookie season, you need to have something that separates you from the others, whether it be speed, height, strength, route running ability, etc. The problem in the NFL is 99.9% of the guys there have all of those qualities and more. Does Barnes have height? He's 6'0, not 6'4. Does he have speed? He certainly looks like he's being run down by the defensive backs in that video. Strength is rather moot at receiver in the NFL, and they all run terrific routes.
Now, I'd argue receiver is one of the few positions in which it doesn't matter where you went to school. If you're scary fast, tall and fast, or have an amazing ability to catch--you have a place in the league. Randy Moss was from the MAC. Look at Randy Moss absolutely destroy defenders with his speed. Freddie Barnes isn't running away from defenders in his highlight video. Guess what, they're a lot faster in the NFL Freddie.
Randy Moss:
I'm not saying Freddie Barnes won't have a spot in the league, but don't expect him to be anywhere near as good as he has been while at Bowling Green.

LOL well lets not down play Randy Moss he was going to go to ND but got into trouble before attending and they released his scholorship then he went to FSU and violated his probation so they released him from scholorship there. That is how he ended up at Marshall not because the big schools didnt want him, he as a freak of a athlete. Lou Holtz said "he was the best high school athlete he has ever seen" and Bowden said "He is a bigger Deion Sanders". I understand the comparison ur trying to make with MAC schools but still trying to compare Freddie to one of the greatest recievers of all time not the same. I dont think anyone is expecting him to go in the league and be Randy Moss.
I will agree with you that it doesnt matter where u go to school, there have been some greats from small schools like Jerry Rice who went to Mississippi Valley State or Terrell Owens that went to University of Tennessee of Chattanooga.

In the NFL Freddie will be the receiver that will run the short routs. Is he fast and tall? No, but he has some of the best hands I have seen. The guy catches everything (he has 138 catches.)
I also think that he had a disadvantage because anyone could turn on the TV on saturday and you could watch ND and Texas play. BG didn't have very many games televised, so people outside of the BG/Ohio area never got a chance to watch him live.
