Wow I take it this wasn't an attached garage? I would surely hear someone hauling that much shit out if it was my garage.

That's rough. We were robbed once and it's a real feeling of violation.

Since I moved to the town I now live, my garage AND house has been spray painted, a POS actually took the time to remove the spare tire off of the back of my Jeep Liberty in my back yard (lugnuts and all) while we were sleeping and my girlfriend got attacked and beaten with a baseball bat by two intruders she caught in my garage while I was away. These intruders were wearing ski masks when this happened.

I asked somebody what I should do if I caught someone doing that in my garage and they told me "beat the hell out of them and kill them if you have to." I told this person that my biggest fear was that the intruders would be minors. He said "so what?"

In small worthless towns they are probably in on it. Will auction the stuff off.

To the OP, that sucks man. We had our push mower stolen from beside our house a few months ago. We have accidentally left our vehicle doors unlocked twice since living on our street. Both times the next day someone had gone through everything in the vehicle. Luckily the only thing stolen in those incidents was a pair of sunglasses and an iphone charger. The first time it happened the title to my truck and the spare key were in there. Free truck. Luckily these guys are just looking for small things they can pawn off.

To BR, damn man. I agree with the person you talked to. Do whatever it takes (even if you have to kill the bastards) to neutralize the threat.

I agree.
I have lived in my current home for around 20 years and never locked a door (don't even have keys). Last month I changed all the locks and we are trying to get in the habbit of locking up.
With the amount of people out of work and/or hurting, the thieves will start hitting hard.
Been 4-5 homes hit in our little area so far this year.
If they try it here they may get "lead" poisoning.

Sebring. Bunch of friggin' punks have nothing better to do than vandalize or break into places.

The funny part is after the garage got spray painted I called the cops and we got an estimate for the damages from my girlfriend's brother who is a contractor. He said "$1500". It worked out OK because the garage had shitty siding and the garage door actually collapsed on my head when I opened it once so I was planning on new siding/garage door anyway.

Fast forward 4 years later and my girlfriend reads in the newspaper that they caught the dude who did the spray painting (he was over 21, shocker). I thought nothing of it. About a year later I get a check in the mail for something like $300 from Mahoning County that says "restitution." I'm laughing because I thought it was a dead issue. Every so often we get a check for $10 or $20 and even got one for $100 a couple of weeks ago.

If I ever catch someone in that garage and I have them cornered I guarantee it won't be pretty. Besides sending my girlfriend to the emergency room, the clowns took a hatchet to the padding/seating on my weight equipment and I have a commercial gym in my garage. If they ever break into my house and mess with any of my cats it will be their death sentence.

My garage is about a hundred yards from the house so yea its a little ways away. I have an alarm on it that goes off in the house if any doors open it repeatedly goes off and gets louder until you shut it off. The only way someone would know it was there if the person new me. So this is making me even more angry cause now Im suspecting its someone I know. I even told the sheriff and he checked it out to make sure it still worked and we found out the wires were cut. grrrrrrr.

Belly35;452969 wrote:And it's only going to get worse.....

no doubt about that. I live in a pretty cool area.

they told me it would be quite unlikely that I would get anything back.

Found out from the sheriff that this is the second break in in this area in the last month. Been 18 years since the last one happened in this area. The sheriff said we need to start taking care of ourselves by putting up security cameras. I told them If they give me the money I will but couldnt afford it right now.

My uncle got his garage broken into a few weeks ago as well, its more like a barn i guess. 200 feet or so from the house. The sheriff came at him with that by cameras and things line. Said he couldnt afford it like you, so the sheriff suggest flood lights. Guy lives at least a quarter of a mile from anything in any direction. No one would see a damn thing lol.

But if you are close to other people, flood lights make people a little more hesitant at least. Just an idea.

it has small motion activated lights on my man door but they broke in through the window on the other side and opened the garage door up. just put bars up over the windows so hopefully that takes care of that problem. Fixed the alarm and put in a more secure location. Been busy since earlier today.
