People have friends from across the political spectrum. I think it would be nice if he had a friend/
But if its the opposite and its based on personal animus to me, that sure can be shown also by his statements.

Well, if the Politics forum is like this thread where people resort to foul language and name callling...then I would call it a fairly worthless forum...

I would like to know why the SE Ohio poverty thread was not approved....It led to very good discussion on the network's site.

I don't get this line of thinking. Have you read the pro sports forum? Or some of the threads in Serious Business? In the politics forum you do not have to read through guys telling themselves to suck each others dicks, go fuck themselves, etc. to try and keep up with a discussion topic.

Everyone has different interests. Having a variety of different subjects on the site should bring in more posters. If you don't like a particular forum don't click on it. Its that simple. There are several I have never visited.

I know it did. When these folks ignored, I was in the discussion on the dateline site.
Dateline was proud it was the first time in years they beat 60 minutes. Produced major discussion on many sites.
Lead them to put on a follow up segment the next week on the show

I'm in a no-win situation. The politics forum has a lot of rules so people complain that it is just like JJhuddle. I let a lot of crap go in other forums and people complain that there aren't enough rules. If I add more rules to other forums it will be called out for being just like JJhuddle. If I remove the rules from the politics forum then all discussion will turn to crap and people will complain.

If it weren't for the healthy six-figure revenue I am making on this site I'd just shut the thing down. :)

This site exists because of the First Amendment
People at Ohio Chatter make wide use of freedom of speech in what they write and show all protected by the First. BUT
the major reason that there is a 1st Amendment is to allow vigorous unrestricted political speech. At this site the place where speech is most restricted, most limited most controlled is in the political forum. That is both an irony and a wrong.

Privately owned internet forum, you have no "rights" regarding speech here.

The First Amendment means nothing on this site. I could restrict everyone as much as I wanted. I choose not to, but there are no "rights" on an internet forum.

Well you just did it now, expect your letter from the ACLU next week. It will make that letter from JJ look like it was written by a 1st grader.

This will piss politics forum people off, but honestly most (though not all) of the politics posters do not or rarely leave that forum, whereas those in the other ones bounce around a little more (most serious business people find their way to all the Pro/College ones, and HS football/basketball). So, in terms of ever getting rid of politics forum I honestly don't think it will hurt the site because they essentially add the least to the site, and god knows any efforts to expand the sites popularity won't focus on it.

The reason this site exists at all is because of the First Amendment. AT ALL. So when set it up, yes you are the god of it. But without the First there is no set up. And Using that freedom to set it up all these different forums. the one you limit the most is political speech that is irony and very sad.

Okay, so obviously you don't like it. Why do you continue to post on the site? The rules have been the same on that forum since the beginning.

This is also true. I don't look at, visit, read, follow, etc, the politics forum. It doesn't interest me and the only reason it even exists is because LJ volunteered to run it when the site was created.

delusionally hoping for a change and I enjoy some of the posters. this site is about the interchange of opinion and information and the most restricted is political, that does not seem right.

It;s hard to exchange opinions when you run around misrepresenting them all the time.
