I tell you I need a quote for a 2-bay cabinet system and proceed to tell u the dimensions.
You give me a quote.
I tell you "I also will be needing 2 of these since we’re upgrading 2 machines. I only spec’d out one set because they will be identical."
I submit TWO purchase orders.

Do you

A. Give me two, 2-bay cabinet systems (one per each PO#)
or
B. Split the 2-bay cabinets into seperate cabinets and charge one cabinet to one PO and the other to the other PO

I'm just seeing how the average person would process this in their brain. I know you don't do it for aliving like the guy I submitted the PO's to.

It depends of if I am currently comped based on total sales or have an order bonus in place.

Without those two being a factor the easiest thing to do would be one order...one PO.

I'm sure that invoices must be matched to POs and therefore I will charge one cabinet to one PO and the other to the other PO

So you'd break up 2 cabinets that were referenced under 1 quote b/c you got 2 orders for that quote?

But they're two different orders so you'd just ignore one order?

1(a) + 1(a) = (2) 2 bay cabinets * (2)/(po)

If you wanted 2 for each PO it would have been specified.

C. I'd give your order to some middle management schmuck and head out for a many-martini lunch/motel stop with the broad I'm banging on the side. The middle management schmuck would then put your order on the bottom of his "to-do" list and take advantage of me being out of the office to order a pizza and take a nap.

That is exactly correct because your AP department probably requires a PO to be matched with every invoice. If an invoice comes in for twice the dollar amount than was on the PO it will cause a lot of questions, research and delays on getting it paid.

Sadly, it's the way most of the corporate world works.

I would send you a quote for just one (2-bay cabinet system) and extend the pricing to a period of 60 days.
Noting that: If you place both order with in the 60day period time frame you will get an additional 5% off the quoted pricing.

You do the math and if you get your ass in gear and place a second order on a different PO or on the same PO what the hell do I care .... shit the way I quoted it you can place a shit load of order within 60 days for the additional saving....

The way you requested the quote: As a business guy I'm not in the future business I'm in the want is needed now business...

The answer is A i think. There are two PO's and 2 2 cabinet orders. It sounds like in B he split up a 2 cabinet order into 1 cabinet on each PO which wouldn't make sense. At least that is how it read to me.
