I am not saying I agree or disagree with the stance of the military however she knew quite well what she was getting into. I don't like it!! I am a veteran myself, personally I don't care if one is gay or not. They know how the military is towards it so why even put yourself in that situation?

"Ranked ninth in the class of more than 1,100 cadets about to start their third year, Miller’s resignation letter was dated a week before she would be required to sign a commitment to finish her final two years and serve five years in the military."

Actually would be a great excuse for not wanting to do the entire service required, but yet transfer to a place where the education is highly thought of and her sexual preference is applauded. She could be a hero at a college like that plus media would interview her and some company, with homosexual values, would pay her big bucks when she graduated. She would be like a national spokeswoman(person).

She is smart, top 10 out of over 1,100 at West Point.

Well, as long as it's a way out, why not use it?

If they're going to have the rule in place, they don't really have much room to whine when people take advantage of it.

I hope she is out. I don't want someone that uses excuses to get out of a commitment of being a leader of people who have the task of protecting us.
She just took advantage of our tax dollars to get a first rate education.

It brings up an interesting topic. If the draft were ever for some reason reinstated, would they stick to this rule? If so, it would be incredibly easy to get out of service if drafted. No more running to Canada, just say you're gay.

They wouldn't draft women anyway, they don't have to register.

With the economy the way it is the military has plenty of people wanting in. I don't see the draft coming back any time soon. Atleast I hope not. Things would have to get real bad for it to happen.

Seriously, I have to agree with those crying "BS". She's obviously smart, and this is a typical liberal ploy to attract attention.

Or, here's an even more cynical perspective:
When she entered 2 years ago, Obama appeared headed to the oval office and was going to withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan. She was unlikely to see real combat. But, my, how a few years change things!
