Yes.

They should be allowed, and they are allowed, but we all should know one simple question: why? The answers, truthfully told, will tell us a lot about that peaceful religion known as Islam.

One would have to be completely naive to not consider the Trojan Horse like nature of such a proposal.....and those who would ignore such suspicions are doomed to repeat it.

You ask for a suitable distance???....how about 'outside the gates?' There is no way that the 'good imam' could guarantee that such a mosque would not be a lightning rod...and bring in the bad element. Nor could he guarantee in perpetuity that such a place's intents and purposes be whloesome and benign.

O'Reilly was asked the same question and I liked his answer: They can build their mosque out of the eyeline of Ground Zero. Sounds fair to me.

heard a comedian on bob and tom say that the solution to this mosque issue is to build a strip club, liquor store, and a bbq rib place next to the mosque

If this is true, why wouldn't something like a Catholic Bishop deciding to build a church next to an elementary school tell me all I need to know about Catholicism considering the recent scandals?

It is interesting that no one is answering my question: what if (humor me) the terrorists were right-wing, uber Christians, chanting about Jesus while crashing their airplanes into the Trade Center towers. What would your thoughts be if a big church project in lower Manhattan was met with huge national criticism? I know it didn't happen this way, but why won't anyone take a stab at this?

I don't agree with Miller's political views that often, but I saw him say this (I do watch the guy, he's hilarious) I agreed with him 100% on both accounts.

Please lets put in the same/same arena:
Three planes load with Muslins, hijacked by racial Christians (can’t think of anyone Christian group that has an interest in 40 virgins, except for 13 year old boys in a youth group) crashes into said building of same/same. Would that Country, Muslims and Islam permit the building of a First Christ of Christ, Non-Denomination Church or Zion Lutheran to be built anywhere? Or would all those Christian Missionary workers within the country be stone to death….

They will say that it is "not what really happened so it's moot" because they don't see the value in hypotheticals to determine what their true positions are. If had to guess, I doubt you'd see many people protesting that Trinity Church should be ripped down...they just think Islam is fundamentally different than Christianity and cannot get past the invalid inference from terrorists to Islam.
