Nice to see a man own up to fucking this game up. I could never understand Steeler fans not admitting that that game was gift wrapped and probably fixed.

The holding penalty the article cited was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. Number one, the Steeler d end was off side and number 2, there was no holding at all. Cost the Seahawks a first and goal at the one yard line...down only 4 points in the 4th quarter. Just one of several blown calls against Seattle.

Yes, as a Steeler fan I'll admit it's true. The League just wants the Steelers to win. Matter of fact, the other 5 SB's we're given to the Steelers by the refs too.

I would have put $1000000 on footwedge starting this thread. He probably had to type it out with 1 hand.

As a Browns fan, I'll admit that this was 5 years ago and I just don't give a shit.

This is huge!

Funny how the refs cheated Pittsburgh just as bad if not worse against the Colts in Indy that same year....yet the Steelers found a way to win.

This game is always conveniently forgotten by the haters.

Even if those controversial calls go the other way, I still think the Steelers win that game.

If you think the Seahawks were the better team, you were high that night.

Holmgren cost the Seahawks that game. He tried long field goals instead of playing field position and his clock management at the end of the half and the end of the game was horrible.

I also don't understand how someone could be born and raised 20 minutes from Columbus Ohio, and somehow root for Pittsburgh.

I'm surprised you're not a Michigan fan as well.

+1. No I am sure he is conveniently a Buckeye fan since they have been doing well in recent years.

doing graduate classes at OSU, fiancee has her DVM from OSU, Buckeye games are the first football games I can remember watching. I don't pull that whole "bleed scarlet and grey" crap though. Interesting try.

Really? You might want to check the stats....the better team lost that day. My guess is that there won't be even one Steeler fan here acknowledging that this game was silver plattered. It's called the Black and God syndrome.

And yet...not a logical explanation why a central Ohio kid roots for Pittsburgh. The population for gay people is probably higher than Central Ohioans rooting for Pittsburgh.

2.5 hours to cleveland, 2 hours to Cincy, 2.75 hours to Pittsburgh, does it really fucking matter who I root for?

Yeah that was it...Holmgren should have punted once....no mention at how the Seahawks got fucked 4 or 5 times that game. This ref finally has come clean. Probably wants to enter heaven one day. A clean conscience is a happy conscience.

You will find plenty of fans who think the refs sucked, you will find very very very few people in general who think the game was fixed. Only people like yourself who like to dwell over things that don't even concern you 5 years later.

I don't give a shit who you root for. It's just really strange to grow up in central Ohio, and root for a hated rival.

A hated rival of who? Clevelanders? Newsflash, this is Columbus, not Cleveland. There is no hated rival to Columbus in the NFL.

And yet not one Steeler fan will ever acknowledge how the refs handed them the Lombardi trophy that season. Not one. This, inspite of the fact that the national audience voted 63% that the game was decided by poor officiating. Like I said...it's the Black and God syndrome. But what's really annoying, Steeler fans still think the refs are trying to fuck them. Every Steeler thread...every week.... is laced with blind douche bags. Truly remarkable.

Like I said...the percentage of gay people is higher in Columbus, then people who root for Pittsburgh.

Every fan of every team will complain about refs trying to screw them. I bet you this year that the amount of posts in Browns threads claiming the refs are trying to screw them vs the amount in steelers threads will not differ by more than 5%.

What does that have to do with Seattle getting completely screwed? Look up the phrase "mutually exclusive". Or maybe a better explanation...a make up call...er game.

Not at all, I'll try to find it but in the Dispatch last year a survey showed that the Browns and Steelers had the same percentage of fans in central ohio and the bengals came in last. That is, unless you can back up your stupid statement?

"It was a tough thing for me. I kicked two calls in the fourth quarter and I impacted the game, and as an official you never want to do that," said the veteran of 15 NFL seasons and two Super Bowls.

"It left me with a lot of sleepless nights, and I think about it constantly," Leavy said of the game in February 2006. "I'll go to my grave wishing that I'd been better."

Good job Bill. It takes a man to admit his mistake. It takes a genuine pussy to live in denial. My guess is that this ref took a listen to the MLB ump that who admitted screwing Gallaraga out of a perfect game.
