there are a few ways to go on this, for me there are several criteria to constitute being the "worst city" in my book. I should note that I'm only judging based on places I've actually been in either driving or staying, and I'm only ranking the worst.

as far as traffic:
1a. LA
1b. Houston
2. New Orleans
3. Pittsburgh
4. Cleveland

as far as worst "PARTS OF TOWN"
1. New Orleans ("Central City")
2. Houston (5th Ward)
3. Houston (Greenspoint)

as far as overall feeling of being unsafe/unclean:
1. Detroit
2. Cleveland
3. Canton
4. LA

so for me, the worst city is Detroit. I didn't feel safe there (and i managed to avoid the "unsafe" parts of tow), it was the dirtiest city I've been to (other than some cities in the Carribean) there was really nothing entertainment wise to do there, and people seemed just as unfriendly as any place i can think of, even worse than NYC.

New Yorkers really aren't unfriendly, they are just fast-moving with places to go. I admit when I leave the area, I am not used to random people sparking up conversations with me. New Yorkers, I would say, are more "focused." Very similar to Paris, which gets a bad rap. I thought the French people were actually pretty cool.

i meant what i said as a complement. I was expecting something much worse than what i saw. and detroit was about what i pictured NYC to be like.

As far as Charlotte, I was staying downtown at the Hilton Charlotte City Center back in 2005. It was yawn to say the least.

Ah in 2005 I don't think Charlotte had the Epicentre which is the big entertainment area Uptown. It was pretty fun when I was down there checking out the area. Its just a huge 3-4 story open air building full of bars, restaurants, drunk food like Five Guys...

I was in Pittsburgh a few years ago and we stayed in a pretty nice hotel, saw a couple of games at PNC, had a good time generally. I can't speak for the area of the city further away from the Ball Park, but it didn't seem to be as bad as we had expected. The city close to PNC was relatively clean and there were police visible in most cases on the streets. I have been in Detroit (my birthplace), East St. Louis, Illinois, Gary Indiana, Washington D. C., and numerous other cities that make the part of Pittsburgh I was in look like Hollywood and Vine.

The city is alright, the people not so much.

I know very few people from Columbus that are not roaring assholes.

I wouldnt say I hate these cities more than any others, but the traffic I have to deal with when visiting them makes me NEVER want to go back. No matter how awesome a time I actually had in said city.

1. DC
2. Atlanta
3. Chicago

Only two things in Oklahoma...

And I don't see no horns so I guess that narrows it down.

Actually Tulsa and Oklahoma City are not that bad. They both are booming towns with a lot of economic growth. Not to mention it is a lot cheaper to live in those cities than in most big cities across the country.

I'm going to say some good things about Steubenville. I just moved back here from Seattle and I'm glad to be home. There is nothing wrong with Steubenville that opening a few businesses wouldn't cure.

Steubenville hit bottom a few years ago and is already beginning to rise up from the ashes. We have one of the best public school systems in the state. Steubenville is one of the easiest places on earth to get a college education. There are eight colleges and universities within easy driving distance. The downtown is apparently going to get a renovation with a lot of new stores opening soon. We have nearly 30 beautiful murals on the walls of the old buildings. And of course, we have the reconstructed Fort Steuben. If you're into major league sports or classical music, we are only 38 miles from Pittsburgh.

My father lived by himself from the time my mother died when he was 81 until he was 93. I never once worried about his safety.

As soon as I sell my house in Seattle, I am going to buy a home in Steubenville. Steubenville has the lowest cost of living of any town I have ever seen. I know I can get a beautiful home for very little money.

Not talking smack, but does Steubenville event count as a "city" with a population < 20,000? It may suck, but it sounds more like a sucky town to me
