According to NBC, Buckeyes Storm Klein and Nathan Williams charged with assault early Sunday morning. No police report yet.
Great way to start out camp.

This isn't Williams' first run in with the law, so that's not good news. I'll await for the details to come out before saying much more.

Not surprised with Williams but hearing Klein's name is a bit surprising.

Stupid move, if the details are true, by both of these guys that would have been on the field a lot. But there are players behind them ready to take their snaps.

FWIW, I hear they beat up some dude at a party who was trying to be a tough guy. Not sure who would want to pick a fight with these two.

I'm not at all surprised by either of these two. Klein has always acted like a big hot shot.
Williams will be the one who gets in trouble with this, since he already has a record.

Details here: http://www2.nbc4i.com/news/2010/aug/02/2-buckeyes-charged-assault-sources-say-ar-175231/
Sources told NBC 4 Sports' Jerod Smalley Storm Klein and Nate Williams were charged with misdemeanor assault after an incident early Sunday morning

Officers were dispatched to Riverside Methodist Hospital on an assault report at about 4:17 a.m.

The 20-year-old victim said he was at a birthday party his friend threw for him at a house off East 15th Avenue.

The victim said he woke up and found two people harassing his girlfriend. He said he told the two males to stop.

The victim said the males knocked him to the ground and began punching him.

The victim suffered a cut under his right eye, and the injury required stitches.

Klein is a sophomore linebacker. He's from Newark and went to Licking Valley High School.

Williams is a junior defensive lineman. He's from Washington Court House and went to Miami Trace.

Both Klein and Williams played in all 13 games last season. Williams compiled 26 tackles and three-and-a-half sacks.

Coach Jim Tressel has not commented on the incident currently, which happened four days before the Buckeyes return to the practice field.
The victim's story has a lot of potential places to be untrue so we will never get the truth because Williams and Klien are sure to have a completely different version.

The actual truth will lie somewhere in between.

Either way, completely dumb for the 2 players to get into this situation.

First off, I'm sure the guy deserved the beating. I don't care how stupid Klein and Williams might be, they are not that stupid to just beat up some dude.

Secondly, they have to be smarter than this. Everyone knows who they are and they have to know they can't get away with this.

Lastly, I hope this doesn't mean a harsh punishment. I don't think it's deserving, but Williams is due to be a stud this year. I really think he makes a name for himself this year and him along with Heyward on the defensive line give OSU's opponents trouble.

Yes, its very stupid for these guys to even be in this situation. Need to be smarter about it.

But I question the guys story. The guy was at his birthday party at a house that was not his, he falls asleep and then suddenly wakes up at the exact moment that the "harassing" is going on? Then they fight and the police arrive at the hospital at 4:17 am?

Obviously they didn't go ape shit on him as they are two big dudes and the guy only need stitches for a cut under his eye. Usually when you hear stories of multiple athletes beating on a guy, that guy is hurt badly at the end.

Secondly, I highly doubt that at my birthday party I am going to fall asleep without my girlfriend at someone elses house. Then suddenly wake up at the exact time that the players are supposedly harassing the girlfriend?

im sorry, but lets for a moment take off the OSU blinders and realize that the victim did not touch either Klein or Williams hard enough to leave any physical mark.

secondly, i doubt most people on this board will ever realize just how big of douches most of the ohio state football team is. there are a few nice ones (jamaal berry for instance), but most are dipshits. It wouldnt surprise me one bit if this story were true. that being said, i hope they cant play. im sorry, but its starting to get really fucking old.

What is starting to get old?? You act like OSU players are out there assaulting people all the time. Was it stupid of them, absolutely. Does it mean they should be kicked off the team, no way.

all the time? no.

but, how many instances like this are never reported? an ass ton thats how many. They are not out assaulting people all the time, but they are out acting like assholes all the time. When that asshole-ness carries over to beating someone up at their birthday party (i wonder if they were even invited) they deserve a pretty stiff punishment.

How do we know that the victim didn't touch them? I might be giving them too much credit, but I just don't see them beating some dude up for no reason.

Plus, he needed a few stitches, hardly what I would call an ass beating.

Dude in your last 3 posts you've made all your statements out to sound like facts.

You are so ignorant to pile all the OSU players into a certain category when I can almost bet every dollar I have that you haven't even met half the OSU football team.

Your statement is just as ignorant as someone who you would say is "blind" to something going on.

You sound like someone who is jealous of football players and what they "can get away with". All of the interactions I've had with football players outside of the context of them being in OSU football mode (ie media day or locker room) has been okay. Yeah some of them can be assholes, but isn't that the same of any group of 18-22 year old guys? Some are bound to be dicks.

Until the full details come out, I'm going to have to believe the truth lies in something other than what this kid told the police.

its ok, i knew things like this would be said when i posted the first time. im not jealous, i have friendships with a few of the players, but a majority of them i cannot stand. the truth hurts buckeye fans.

please son, its not ignorance. im speaking from the face to face interaction ive had, its bound to be different than others interactions.

i think the ncaa should come out with a flat rule on this shit.

leave no grey area.

any misdemeanor or felony charges = no playing until you're found innocent or the charges dropped and you lose eligibility for the duration of the process.

any misdemeanor convictions, or felony convictions = automatically banned for life.

if a kid knew that he/she would have to wait potentially a year for a trial before being able to play again (and that any time lost can't be made up), they'd think harder about doing dumb shit. and if they did the dumb shit anyway, they deserve to have the book thrown at them.

dude, they are my opinions, im sorry that you couldnt figure that one out on your own. i may be ignorant, but im not ignorant enough to act like Williams doesnt know thats its not ok to break the law, and that Klein was just there to welcome everyone to the party.

Okay, and I've had face to face interactions true.

They're not any more douchebaggy than any other group of 18-22 year olds.

I tend to stick up for the athletes, but this just isn't true. They are not your typical 18-22 year old kids. These are kids who play football for a top University, in a city that supports them 100% and for the most part can't just go out without being noticed/asked for autographs.

Plus, football players in general are meatheads who walk around like tough guys. I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just a fact. Every campus across the US, if you ask what the perception of the football team is, it will be that they walk around like they are badasses.
