No, my point was that what good is breaking tackles if his stupidity only let him be there one season. You can say "yeah but he won a NC for the fans in that one year" but that sounds self serving when you're trying to seem like you care about his education and well being. Also, "Yea so" to Herron being academic all B10 makes you seem like education means nothing.

For the record, they are both "my boys" and are both from my high school. I've always defended and wanted the best for Maurice and always will, but I'm still allowed to say he was the biggest mental flop OSU ever had. People jumped all over me immediately, but they don't know that I've been there watching both Clarett and Herron in practices and games since they were in 9th grade. Without question, I've supported both more than anyone on OC with the exception of maybe one single poster.

^ Manningham is still my favorite player to go through Harding, just ahead of Stringer. He was electric. Expecially on the basketball court. That triple-double he had against ASVSM was ridiculous.

Did you ever watch Omar Provitt play? Manningham's best performance was no doubt on the gridiron as a sophomore in 2002 where he had 4 TDs against Massillon...2 rec, 1 kick return, and 1 punt return. Harding was outmanned and Provitt stole the show in his first meaningful game. That's when most of us knew he'd be special.

Unfortunately no, Provitt was before my time. I was born about a month after they won the championship. I've heard all the stories though. Korey was a little too early for me too, but I got to meet him a couple times through the Warren Children's Olympics before he died. I think I was 12 when that happened.

It's not like Saine is head and shoulders above Herron. Saine has actually underachieved - he was all-world out of HS and broke Ginn's record in the 100 while being 40 lbs heavier. His measurables have outweighed his performance to this point.

Saine is most definitely head and shoulders above Herron. Boom Herron shouldn't be a top 2 back at OSU. Saine has "underachieved" due to injury. he was the man I thought he would be last season. I thought Herron was going to turn out like Pittman, but Herron lacks the vision and the strength that Pittman had. Saine is most definitely the guy this year, if you don't believe that, go back and watch how he performed the last half of last season.

He is working with the best he has, that should tell you something about the "depth" of the RB's. Doesn't mean that I don't think that Herron is not a typical #2 type back at OSU.

Yeah, JT invited him to senior camps, offered him a schollie, and raved about him multiple times because Herron is the "best he has to work with". LOL. At which level did you end your coaching career?

Did Saine not have a better YPC and more yards on less carries than Herron? The results on the field are all that matter, and in that case, I was 100% correct and I will put $50 on me being correct again this year.... man enough to take that?

Clarett stats his freshman year:
222 carries, 1237 yards, 5.6 avg

Wells stats:
Freshman - 104 carries, 576 yards, 5.5 avg (backup to Pittman)
Sophomore - 274 carries, 1609 yards, 5.9 avg (starter)
Junior - 207 carries, 1197 yards, 5.8 avg (injured)


One could obviously argue that Wells was better, however I would disagree. Clarett was dominant as a freshman, and if he didn't screw up, there was no reason to think he wouldn't have improved for his sophomore year.

You forgot that MoC had more receptions in 1 year than Beanie had in his whole career (12 vs 7)

Saine is better than Herron. He's bigger, faster, and is a better receiver.

But, he is not SO much better that its "hilarious" and you are some extraordinary scout of football talent and saw something no one else could see. Saine is SUPPOSED to be better and he always was supposed to be better. Look at his measurables. They are off the chart.

That is my only point. Now, you want me to make a bet like that when I never argued otherwise? WTH? I've read your posts and you seem much smarter than that LJ. What gives?

it's hilarious that people called me nuts for saying that Saine would be the best back on the team. I guess there's a chance you aren't as smart as I gave you credit for...

I said JT knows more about coaching than you because you don't think Herron is a legit OSU #2 RB. But JT does. Proof of that is that JT was starting him last year and winning games. Proof is that JT has Herron as his close #2 RB for 2010. Proof of "close" in JT's eyes will be Herron's carries being just slightly below Saine's in 2010.

I said Saine is not head and shoulders above Herron. Do you know what that means? It means he's above him but not by leaps and bounds. To that, you asked me to be a man and take Herron in a bet to see who would do better in 2010. You made absolutely no sense with that offer and if you don't understand that you really might be dumb. Now you with "so Saine IS better than Herron?". Huh? Get grip on the English language. You can start by looking up the phrase "head and shoulders above".

I tend to agree with LJ here. After Saine's freshman year, I joked with my friends that he was going to be a Heisman candidate by his senior year, I was obviously exaggerating, but he really showed signs of being great.

As for Herron, I have never been even slightly impressed with him. The dude runs hard, but he ALWAYS goes down on the first hit, and that's just not acceptable for a RB at OSU. I really think that Herron ends up with less carries this year as a younger guy passes him up.
