My grandparents used to own food concession trailers that went to the county fairs. As a teen I spent my summers working for them. Trust me after the first week you ate looking for anything but food that is cooked at the fair to eat.

Is the Southside Diner still in town? I haven't been up there in a few years, but I always thought that was a decent place to eat. Not sure what their hours are though.

Never been to Mt. Vernon. There are only a few thousand places I can go to get something to eat late at night in Cleveland.

My buddy's dad runs three food stands and an icee stand at the Ohio State Fair and the Canfield Fair only and makes enough money to live on for the rest of the year just from that. His workers are carnies, but he's far from a carnie.

Carny or carnie is a slang term used in North America for a carnival (funfair) employee, as well as the language they employ. A "carny" is anyone who runs booth, food stand, game, or ride at a carnival.

Sounds like you are a carnie to me.

I have normal hands. And do not smell of cabbage.

Also, carnies are generally the skill games and the rides people. Everyone else at a fair is usually somewhat normal.

And I think being enrolled in college disqualifies one from being a carnie. But whatever.

This town still sucks. I've seen more people without teeth this week than I have in my life.

I live in a rural area and that provides the conundrum of the country fair for me. The food = kickass! Being in direct proximity to hilljack-o-rama = fuck dat noise!
