Stern is a dick. He doesn't want the league to look bad. Bad for revenues and advertising, you know. If he was a real man, he'd be calling an investigation into player collusion and tampering, which is, in a way, what Gilbert might have really wanted to say.....but didn't so as not to give the sport a black eye.
He was looking for reasons to leave, not stay. Failing two seasons in a row, bringing in players that didn't work, not getting a great player to come to Cleveland, and the Miami Heat building a great foundation was enough reason to leave.
Building a great foundation...HA!....The only question is whether Miami was involved or just the lucky recipient.
The only thing Gilbert owes an apology for is guaranteeing a championship before Lebron gets his....to which he should apologize to Cavs fans, "I'm sorry, but I really can't guarantee a championship...but I'm sure going to try".
Chris Broussard...is there a more worthless piece of commentary? He is willing to give James a pass for being only 25 years old, but he holds Gilbert's feet to the fire because he's almost 50. It doesn't matter that James' dog and pony show was premeditated and orchaestrated to a national audience, and that Gilbert's comments were an off the cuff e-mail directed to Cavs fans. It doesn't matter that James has plenty of advisors at his beckon call....he's only 25!
And of course Broussard in all his wisdom thinks Gilbert is at fault for threats of violence against LeBron and company.....NOT! Hopefully LBJ will learn (now that he's over 25) that "DECISIONS" have consequences. Some of those consequences may include pissed off fans, and maybe even a team owner who is trying to remove a stilletto from his back.
Broussard calls Gilbert an 'enabler' for helping James friends...and then he says Gilbert trashes him because he is no longer a 'moneymaker' for him....as if LBJ was working for peanuts, and Gilbert was reaping all the benefits. Perhaps "that's why Lebron didn't want to play for him".
The only real question I have after reading that tripe, was "Why does this guy have a job?"
