Maple Heights is coming off an impressive win against a very talented Toledo St. Francis team. The Cougars squeaked out a win against a very good Ashland team. I expect this game to be another high scoring affair with many playmakers on both sides of the ball. The keys to this one will be the team speed for Maple Heights. The Cougars have not seen this type of speed since week 5 against Mooney. However, this will be the best offensive line and QB that Maple Heights has faced all season. Also, the weather can play a huge factor in this one. The early forecast calls for a snow/rain mix with very cold temperatures. If the weather forecast holds true, I give the edge to Lake Catholic. LET IT SNOW!!!

If MLC plays like they played against Padua (the only game I've seen MLC play) they're in for a very long night. I think Maple Hts. will have to much offense for Lake Catholic:
Maple Hts. 35
MLC 07

Thanks Cmhs and best of luck against the Big Red. Though, I don't think you will need it this year.

So LC's only scores 7? You want to put a wager on that one?

Ok, now that's more realistic. I'm still saying this will be a shootout. Although, if the weather is bad that will slow down this very fast Maple team. LC will have their hands full with that offense. The Cougars are battle tested though and have been here before.

I think the big question will be if the Heights defense can stop the LC offense.

Thanks for the support Cards and look forward to seeing the Cardinals again in the near future. My guess is that LC and Canfield will be seeing each other again the State Playoffs.

From what I saw they stop the run pretty well because of the overall speed of their defense. The only problem area that I saw was the height of their secondary they got beat twice on jump balls against St. Francis against the 6'3 Scott Loy. Other than that they run toe to toe with the receivers with absolutely no seperation. It will be a dandy though. As far as the weather goes it is going to slow both teams down but it also makes it difficult to catch shifty runners.

You're right, LC will score more than 7 points. I guess once Maple Heights pull the starters, LC will score one maybe two more times.

Again, how much would you like to wager on that? If I were you, I would be more concerned about a team from Youngstown that's going to dismantle the Big Red on Friday.

Good luck stopping Heard & Co.

How about this, if LCHS wins by any amount or loses by only 7 or less points, I'll change my avatar to a Menor Lake Catholic Avatar for the rest of the season + 1 month and root for LCHS for the State Championship game. I mean being a serious fan, I'll even go to the State Championship game to root them on provide it doesn't conflict with the Div. III game (if Big Red makes it!)

But if Maple Heights wins by 14 or more points you have to change your avatar to a Big Red Avatar for the rest of the season + 1 month and root for Big Red provied they make it past Mooney. I won't even require you go to the game, but if you'd like to go I'd be more than happy to save a seat right next to me so I can hear how right I was. :D

A win for Maple Heights beween 8 & 13 points we can call a push!

What do you say?

Btw, as far as the Big Red vs. Mooney game, I am concerned with it but there's not much that I can do to affect the outcome. As far as stopping Heard, I'm confident that the coaches will have a plan to at least contain him (I understand, as most football fans do that you can't completely stop Heard).

Btw II, I mean no disrespect for LCHS, I'm only doing this for fun. The head coach for Maple Heights, if you haven't heard yet, is a Steubenville Big Red graduate and thats why I have so much interest in this game.

The Cougars won the DII State Championship last year. This year it is Maple Heights turn. Another DII state title for Region 6.
