There is a reason why he is the toughest guy in baseball to put the ball in play on.

Yes, but it should have quickly popped in his head to not get out of the way when that slow pitch was coming way inside.

What a good play by Castro to snag that bad high hop on Rolen's grounder.

few players are "headier than Orlando Cabrera"...if he wasn't thinking of letting that ball hit him....few would've. He had 2 strikes and was completely focused on trying to make contact off a pitcher with 15 strikeouts per 9 innings
BOth batters looked bad...but Marmol does that to everyone....even the statically best hitter in the NL.

The speed pressure the Reds put on kept the Cubs from the inning ending DP.

Thank God
Great win against Chicago's best pitcher this year...back to back wins against ace pitchers.

The difference in this tight game was what happened for each team trying for a double play with runners on first and third with one out. Reds turned it and Cubs did not. Shouldn't have been that tight if Dusty, with his rookie pitcher throwing a gem for 7 innings, has a pitcher ready to come in quickly in the 8th even if Wood only throws one pitch. Great game to watch. I'm glad I took the afternoon off to watch. Planning to do the same tomorrow. Wrigley will play different with the wind changing to the south for the rest of the series.

16 hits and only 3 runs. Not sure if I should feel good about that or not. Good thing they ended up getting the W.

I really like how Wood played today. Didn't seem like he let his nerves get the best of him. 12 in a row sat down at one point?
