If Rolen distracts Ramirez another millisecond, the Reds have the bases loaded!

That one looked a little low & the home plate ump didn't even check w/ the 1st Base ump either to see if Phillips went around

Welsh and Thom were insistent that Votto is statistically THE best 1B in the NL using Chris' on base %+ stat.....I say it's a statistical dead heat between he and Pujols...check out many overall stats:

STAT................VOTTO...........PUJOLS

AVG.....................313.................310
OB%....................413.................421
SLUG%.................574.................563
OPS.....................987.................984
Extra base hits.......33...................36
Total Bases...........156.................160
Runs.....................50...................45
RBI.......................55...................57
Hits.......................85...................88
2B.........................13...................18
HR........................18....................18
BB.........................44....................55
K...........................60...................41
SB.........................7/11.................8/11
Fielding %..............997...................996 (Votto has 120 fewer chances)

How can anyone say one of those is better than the other based on the statistics? Great for Votto and the Reds......but Pujols is not behind him overall.

They didn't say Votto was better than Pujols, only that there is nobody better than Votto going by OPS.

What is going on here? That ball wasn't terrible but it was definitely high.

Simple....Reds aren't getting any breaks and are on the road.......the good teams find a way to overcome them...but yes it is annoying. The Reds have been up and down all year on the "breaks"....hopefully they can overcome those 3

Silva sure does throw a "straight" ball...not sure how he can be so effective on the year...must really be pin point

Stubbs should have been bunting in that 1st AB in my opinion.

You should try to hook them up, she'll be loaded.

Stubbs doesn't know how to bunt, they were talking about it a month or so ago. He rarely did it in the minors so he's not very good.

Was the 3-2 pitch to Castro less of a strike than the called strike three to Votto?

I just rewinded back to the 1st inning and Thom said "not only is Votto as good as anyone else, his numbers from top to bottom are better than anyone else in the national league"

Wood gets thru 3 on 39 pitches. Offense needs to get him a larger working margin.

Wood looks pretty good...he is throwing 89-91 but he hides the ball well on his delivery and it appears to shoot up there about 93-95. Not a lot of movement but he's had them off balance enough. I like him thus far but worry that over the long haul of a season that teams would hit him pretty good the 2nd go around.....but he will be good for what the Reds need this season I imagine.

Wood > Bailey

He's Leake but throws about 3 mph harder and doesn't keep them as off balance as Leake does.

Stubbs has more strikeouts this season than notorious strikeout guys like Dan Uggla, Chris YOung, Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard

Stubbs is on pace for 175 strikeouts......he needs SIGNIFICANT improvement in that stat if he's going to ever contribute for anyone seriously

When Volquez comes of the 60 day DL, who do you suppose will go off the 40 man roster? Will it be:

1) Timed with Hanigan coming back and Corky goes on waivers.
2) Lincoln goes.
3) Valiquette goes.
4) Two 40 man roster players traded for one.
5) Someone else goes.
