He's also essentially a rookie. He hasn't even completed a seasons worth of games in his career.

The gun showed Wood at 94 mph on the 2-2 pitch to Colvin.

Rolen with a tough in between hop play to end the 6th - that's too good ones for him today plus the only RBI of the game. Wood with just 70 pitches, one walk and one hit.

There is also a reason why he was in the minors until he was 25 as a top 10 pick with college experience. He reached the point where it's either time to produce in the MLB or acknowledge he was a bust as a top 10 pick. I'm not ready to write him off, but he needs to put in some serious work this off season.

Sorry....I understand his youth.....but I also believe he needs a little rest (maybe just 2 games) He's really struglling (or however you spell that)....month of June he hit .224 (which is tolerable as players have bad months average-wise....but 30 K to 8 BB and ONLY 4 EXTRA BASE HITS!

We watched Jay Bruce try to swing his way out of slumps at the same point in his career....now, like you often said, he seems to have it and looks to be a solid -very good player for a long time........back then I thought he needed some days off and I feel the same way about Stubbs now. I don't expect him to be great....but when young players are going through doldrums.....I'm going to say they need to step back and just watch for a moment.

I said the exact same thing about Cabrera who has played forever.

I still love Scott Rolen......I can't think of a Reds player that came to the team I have liked more......might have to go back to Jose Rijo.....hopefully Rolen leads us to the same place.

good god..... 3 outs on about 2 pitches with 3 well hit balls...all to straight away center.......dude can pitch to a big playing field.....perfectly

Not sure how those balls would fare at GABP.....but he may be smart enough to pitch it differently.....it really looked like Lee's 1st AB and Soriano's last were KILLED....but nothing

I DO like him and how he goes about EVERYTHING....but I need to see him pitch at GABP to judge him better

RIGHT now I'm wanting him in there over Homer by a mile and over Harang as well.

That excellent 2-0 pitch on the outside edge really helped Wood in that AB.

I agree with you Ironman. The only other name I can think of who has come in and done so well on the field and in the clubhouse is Greg Vaughn. Whenever Rolen comes to the plate I expect something to happen.

Vaughn wasn't much with the glove though whereas Rolen may get a shot at the HOF for his.

Cabrera with an important potential run with a lead-off double, and then an astute advance on the long fly to LF, but Rolen's fly to right just not far enough. But Gomes hits a rocket to get the run in!
