I'm just questioning the article. When I look up the schedules of most major programs, they are usually scheduled at least 5 years in advance. It could be the possible that teams don't have an opening for that date in 21 months. If the AD said specific schools that have the same open date turning them down, the story has more credibility.

At least Boise is trying to schedule good teams (Oregon) to supplement their schedule. What Penn State did was laughable.

This is a stupid argument on so many levels.

Who has the more impressive resume:

Boise State, who played one legit opponent (Oregon) and won, and beat 11 cupcakes

OR

Penn State, who played two legit opponents (Iowa & OSU) and lost both, and beat 10 cupcakes.

I'm actually not sure PSU would go undefeated playing BSU's schedule. I don't think that they could beat Oregon.

Penn State scheduled 4 WAC-like games this year and you are all over them. Boise State plays 8 of them every year, plus a couple of other cupcakes.

I don't think anyone is arguing that PSU has a weak schedule, but it happens sometimes. PSU had Oregon State last year, ND the year before, and then Alabama next season.

Iowa should get the nod over PSU imo, Iowa at least beat Arizona in their OOC.

There probably isnt too much of a difference between the bottom half of the big ten and the wac.

Plus the head to head victory. Iowa definitely has a better resume than PSU...even considering the close call against northern iowa LOL.

I don't think PSU would defeat Oregon with a Big Ten schedule to prepare for. However, if that was the only game they had to prepare for all year, they would have a good shot.

It is much easier to prepare when you only have 1 game in the entire season to prepare for. You can gear your entire offseason, spring practice, and season towards preparing for that team. Many teams have beaten one good team, but can't do it for an entire season.

In 2006, the Gators played the #1 toughest schedule in the NCAA, according to the NCAA. They also were National Champions. In 2008, the Gators played the 2nd toughest schedule in the NCAA. Oklahoma had the toughest and Florida beat them in the BCSCG.

Before the FIU game, the Gators were 14th in SOS, pretty solid with the other top 20 teams. Instead of Charleston Southern, Florida was supposed to play UCF, but UCF backed out. Last week, UCF beat #15 Houston. The schedules are made years out, and sometimes a match-up loses luster.

Indiana and Michigan are the bottom of the Big Ten. They would finish no worse than 3rd in the WAC, probably 2nd. We saw Ohio State play a team from the bottom half of the WAC. The starters were out at halftime. I didn't see the starters sit the whole second half in any Big Ten game.

northwestern, illinois. mich state, purdue, are bottom tier teams anywhere .

You know how Ohio State is when facing inferior competition. Sometimes they blow their doors off, ala New Mexico State this year. Other times they are trailing going in to the fourth quarter, ala Ohio University last year.

Northwestern actually had a pretty solid year this year & Mich State had a good year last year & Illinois had a solid year in 2007. That being said, more often than not, those teams will be perennial bottom feeders.

You make me laugh. You only would have an argument if the SEC got beat in bowl games and usually sucked OOC against decent teams. But they don't. They win and every year they dominate the bowl season. All while you complain and moan about their season schedule

I've never seen the starters sit the whole second half of a Big Ten game. Boise State's conference games are scrimmages for Ohio State.

OSU has been blowing the doors off of Big Ten opponents for the past three years. Seriously, look at some of the scores. Outside of OSU and whoever is having the better year out of Penn State/Iowa/Wisconsin, the Big Ten is absolutely atrocious.

And by the way, New Mexico State is currently sitting at second to last in the WAC. You think Illinois, for example (third to last in the big ten), fared any better against OSU when they lost 30-0?
