I would think that this tornado would get an EF4 rating once the investigation is complete... Just too much damage.

A big part of that is the fact that the Lake Township police station was destroyed. That building was all block made. Couple that with the now non-existent Lake HS and many homes being flattened...a EF4 tornado would not be out of the question IMO.

The death toll was revised back to 5... it looks like 2 of the people were double counted by the two counties involved, and/or counted on the scene and at the hospital.

K-1 is not at the campus, everything else is. The single story building to the north is the elementary.

Could I get a link? I find it hard to fathom that they will disband the school district and have the kids enroll at different schools?

It has been rated EF4 after further inspection of the damage
(only thing wrong in this release is they have not revised the death count down to 5)

Check out the surveillance video: Tornado in Action clip.

It's crazy when the Lightening strikes and you can see the Tornado. It also causes an explosion.

The video replays some of the clips in slow-mo so you can see it better.

Not that this is important, but that stepfather in the video about the mother who died deleted the deceased's number from his phone (he had been talking with her, trying to tell her where to seek shelter) as soon as he heard the tornado take her?

"I heard the [makes tornado sound] and I then deleted her number, because I knew I'd never call her again."

Kind of unsettling.

What a terrible day for NW Ohio.

It's not official. I just figured this to be true from talking to people at the sites. There would be no other place for them to go. They are estimating 1-3 years for a complete rebuild of the at least Lake HS. Genoa, Eastwood, and Northwood are the logical sites for students to go.

It would be easier to logistically find a place to teach than to let go of an administration and a few hundred teachers. 90% of the population is bussed anyway, just bus them to JVC/Owens.

Jim Witt, the school's superintendent, promised the 110 graduates and their families that the school would rebuild, saying that "Lake High School will be together somewhere come August."

That last one is crazy in my opinion because, well, there aren't many houses near Lake HS. Where did that mattress come from?

The third grade teacher who classroom is in the photo indicates that there are farm houses along 795 and several houses on Martin Moline road near Main Street Church.

Ryan Walters, husband and father to the Mary and Hayden Walters (who were killed in the tornado a week ago) died yesterday from the injuries he sustained from the tornado. The lone survior from the family was the seven year old girl, Maddie.

Lake HS will be relocated to Owens Community College for the 2010-11 year, the same place that let them use their auditorium for commencement.

Looks like they may have to stay for some, if not all of 2011-12 as well, as they project a complete rebuild would take until Jan. 2012 at the earliest.
